Professional knowledge of the content and students takes a while to develop for a classroom teacher. Kristen has
taken on responsibilities and created successful lessons in this placement that prove she would be a teacher who
works hard to ensure she has the knowledge to integrate content elements successfully.

The use of "I can" statements creates a growth mindset in the classroom and allows students to see the end goal before
they even begin a new objective. Kristen starts each new learning experience with these statements. The use of
Chromebooks in each small group she has taken on helps the students to incorporate technology into their learning
environment as well. We are still working on ways to keep this group focused throughout each lesson and being sure
they are engaged in each task.

Kristen looks at each paper that students turn into her and writes notes to the students for their review--a great practice!
We use assessments to create individualized instruction on web-based programs for students in math and use
formative assessments and summative assessments to form small differentiated learning groups.

Kristen is very in tune with the students. She eats lunch with the class and gets to know the students on a personal
basis in addition to the academic setting. She tried many techniques to redirect and reinforce behaviors through Class
DoJo as well as classroom management strategies.
