Touch-enabled keyboard - enables the user to use a virtual keyboard to type words and
numbers.
Operating system - An operating system (OS) is system software that manages computer
hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs.
All computer programs, excluding firmware, require an operating system to function.
Voice calls - A telephone call is a connection over a telephone network between the called
party and the calling party.
Mobile payment features - Mobile payment (also referred to as mobile money, mobile money
transfer, and mobile wallet) generally refer to payment services operated under financial
regulation and performed from or via a mobile device. Instead of paying with cash, cheque (or
check), or credit cards, a consumer can use a mobile phone to pay for a wide range of services
and digital or hard goods.
Personal digital assistant (PDA - A personal digital assistant (PDA), also known as a handheld
PC, or personal data assistant, is a mobile device that functions as a personal information
manager.
Touchscreen - A touchscreen is an important source of input device and output device normally
layered on the top of an electronic visual display of an information processing system. A user can
give input or control the information processing system through simple or multi-touch
gestures by touching the screen with a special stylus and/or one or more fingers.
Text-based web browser - A text-based web browser is a web browser that renders only
the text of web pages, and ignores graphic content.
Internet access is the process that enables individuals and organisations to connect to
the Internet using computer terminals, computers, mobile devices, sometimes via computer
networks. Once connected to the Internet, users can access Internet services, such as email and
the World Wide Web.
HyperText Markup Language (HTML) - is the standard markup language for creating web
pages and web applications.
Symbian - is a discontinued mobile operating system (OS) and computing platform designed for
smartphones. Symbian was originally developed as a closed-source OS for PDAs in 1998
by Symbian Ltd.
Retina Display - is a marketing term developed by Apple to refer to devices and monitors that
have a resolution and pixel density so high roughly 300 or more pixels per inch that a person
is unable to discern the individual pixels at a normal viewing distance.
Wi-Fi or WiFi - is a technology for wireless local area networking with devices. Devices that
can use Wi-Fi technology include personal computers, video-game consoles, smartphones,
digital cameras, tablet computers, digital audio players and modern printers. Wi-Fi compatible
devices can connect to the Internet via a WLAN network and a wireless access point.
Pixel - In digital imaging, a pixel, is a physical point in a raster image, or the smallest
addressable element in an all points addressable display device; so it is the smallest controllable
element of a picture represented on the screen.
Videotelephony - comprises the technologies for the reception and transmission of audio-
video signals by users at different locations, for communication between people in real-time.
iOS - (formerly iPhone OS) is a proprietary mobile operating system developed by Apple
Inc. primarily for its iPhone product line.
Mobile app - A mobile app is a software application designed to run on mobile devices such
as smartphones and tablet computers. Most such devices are sold with several apps bundled
as pre-installed software, such as a web browser, email client, calendar, mapping program, and
an app for buying music or other media or more apps.
Handsfree device - Hands-free is an adjective describing equipment that can be used without the
use of hands (for example via voice commands) or, in a wider sense, equipment which needs
only limited use of hands, or for which the controls are positioned so that the hands are able to
occupy themselves with another task (such as driving) without needing to hunt far afield for the
controls
SIM - is an integrated circuit that is intended to securely store the international mobile subscriber
identity (IMSI) number and its related key, which are used to identify and authenticate
subscribers on mobile telephony devices (such as mobile phones and computers).
