ALL MEN

READING: Gal 5:22-6:10

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of
meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
5 For every man shall bear his own burden.
6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the
Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the
household of faith.

I. WHO HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE SAVED?

A. The grace of God is offered to all.
1. Titus 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in
this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar
people, zealous of good works.

2. 1 Tim 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God,
who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

3. Acts 2:38-39 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name
of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise
is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall
call.

4. 2 Cor 5:14-15 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for
all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto
themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

B. Christ commands the reverence of all men.

1. John 5:20-23 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he
will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and
quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath
committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the
Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
II. WHO NEEDS TO BE SAVED FROM THEIR SINS?
A. Who has sinned?
1. Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

2. Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death
passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

3. Rom 3:9-10 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both
Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

B. How many have been commanded to repent?

1. Acts 17:30-31 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men
every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in
righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that
he hath raised him from the dead.

III. WHO NEEDS TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT CHRIST’S SECOND COMING?

A. Jesus issued this warning.
1. Mark 13:35-37 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at
even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you
sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

B. Paul, by inspiration, issued this warning.

1. 2 Cor 5:9-10 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in
his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

C. Jude, by inspiration, offered this warning.

1. Jude 14-15 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the
Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that
are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their
hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

IV. WHO, THEN, CAN BE SAVED?

A. Jesus commands.
1. Matt 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto
your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

2. Matt 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

B. Paul, by inspiration, writes:

1. Rom 10:12-13 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over
all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be
saved.
C. Are there no restrictions?
1. Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let
him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

V. HOW ARE WE TO TREAT EVERYONE?

A. With gentleness.
1. 2 Tim 2:24-26 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to
teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them
repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of
the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

2. Titus 3:1-2 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be
ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all
meekness unto all men.

B. Peaceably.
1. Heb 12:14-15 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the
Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up
trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

2. Rom 12:17-18 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

C. Doing good to them.

1. 1 Thess 5:14-15 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the
feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none render evil for evil unto any
man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

D. Honoring them.
1. 1 Peter 2:17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

E. Loving all.
1. 1 Thess 3:12-13 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and
toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in
holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

2. John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved
you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love
one to another.

3. Matt 5:44-48
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray
for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and
on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
VI. FOR WHOM ARE WE TO PRAY?
A. 1 Tim 2:1-4 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and
giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a
quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God
our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
