    The Pen Argyl PA Mayor and Council sent a letter dated March 1, 2017 to the Plainfield Township Planning Commission, indicating they will seek party status in opposition to the granting of a variance to place a biosolids plant along the Pen Argyl border. Plainfield Township's supervisors can't take a public position on the matter, but have voted to send an expert withness and Solicitor to the Zoning Hearing Board hearing. This indicates they are also opposed to the proposed operation. As of April 9, 2017, the borough of Wind Gap, which also borders the site, has not taken an adverse position to the proposed operation, which is in close proximity to many of its residents as well as providing the principal route for truck traffic. Wind Gap is already besieged by garbage trucks, Nestle Waters tankers 24/7, etc. Why hasn't it acted to protect the health, safety and welfare of its citizens?

    RE: Synagro Variance Application Plainfield Township

    Dear Commissioners:

    Please be advised that at its Borough Council meeting on February 7, 2017, the
    Pen Argyl Borough Mayor and Council Members listed below determined that the
    Borough would oppose the variance application of Synagro currently pending before
    Plainfield Township. We understand the application is scheduled to be on the agenda
    for the Plainfield Planning Commission on April 17, 2017 and before the Zoning Hearing
    Board at a date subsequent to that.

    The Boroughs opposition is due to concerns the Borough has about the effect on
    the Borough and its residents with the establishment of a Biosolids processing facility at
    a site so close to the boundaries of the Borough and to residences within the Borough.
    The primary concerns are, but not limited to, traffic from vehicles passing through the
    Borough, odors, pollution, the impact to public health and quality of life.

    The Borough retains the right to appear before the Planning Commission, Zoning
    Hearing Board and, if appropriate, the Board of Supervisors.
