Banking & Financial Awareness

1. The loan amount has been sanctioned by World Bank (WB) for Nagaland Health Project______ 48 million.
Note:
This will directly benefit about 6 lacks people and the purpose of the project is to improve health services in
Nagaland.
2. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has raised the daily Cash withdrawal limit of 4500 rupees from ATMs to __ten thousand
rupees.
Note:
The overall withdrawal limit from saving accounts will remain unchanged at 24 thousand rupees per week.
The limit on withdrawal from current accounts has also been enhanced from 50,000 rupees per week to one lakh
rupees.
Earlier, the ATM withdrawal limit from Rs. 2500 to Rs. 4500 form 1st of this month.
3. Indias rank in the 2017 Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI)____ 92nd.
Note:
India has been ranked 92nd out of 118 nations in the 2017 Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI).
The list is topped by Switzerland, followed by Singapore, United Kingdom (UK), United States, Sweden and
Australia.
4. Indias rank in the World Economic Forum (WEF)s Inclusive Development Index (IDI) for 2017_____60th.
Note:
India has been ranked 60th out of 79 developing economies in the World Economic Forum (WEF)s Inclusive
Development Index (IDI) for the year 2017.
The list is topped by Lithuania, followed by Azerbaijan and Hungary.
5. Rank of Indian passport in the latest passport Index___78th.
Note:
The Indian passport has been ranked 78th with a visa-free score of 46 in a list of the worlds strongest passports.
6. As per updated World Economic Outlook (WEO) report of Ianternational Monetary Fund (IMF) Indias GDP growth
forecast rate for FY 17____6.6%.
Note:
Earlier, the IMF has expected Indias growth rate at 7.2% in 2017-18 and 7.7% in 2018-19.
Indias GDP growth forecast downgraded due to the temporary negative consumption shock induced by cash
shortages and payment disruptions associated with the recent currency note withdrawal and exchange initiative.
7. Who has imposed Rs. 75 lakh penalty on Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank ___Reserve Bank of India(RBI).
Note:
Penalty imposed due to violations of norms related to KYC and anti-money laundering
8. The union government has clarified the banks are not authorized to accept deposits under the Pradhan Mantri Garib
Kalyan Deposit Scheme (PMGKDS)___Co-operative Bank.
Note:
The scheme was launched on 17th of Dec and will remain open for declarations up to 31st March this year.

The PMGKDS permits voluntary declarations of previously undisclosed income with an effective tax rate of 50%
and requires assessees to deposit a further 25% of such wealth into a four-year interest-free deposit.
9. Indian Navys largest warship has become the first warship to be equipped with its own dedicated ATM ____INS
Vikramditya.
Note:
The ATM will be provided by Indias largest public sector bank State Bank of India (SBI).
The services will be on the satellite link and will cater to over two thousand naval personnel deployed on the
aircraft carrier.
10. Who has become the Indias first cashless island ____ Karang (Manipur).
Note:
Karang Island is located in the middle of Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the North-Eastern part of
India.

3. Who has been selected as the new chief of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)____ Alok Kumar.
Note:
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the domestic intelligence and security service of India, which
simultaneously serves as the nation's prime federal law enforcement agency.
3-member committee headed by PM Narendra Modi has selected him.

2. The 58th edition of India International Garment Fair (IIGF) was held in _____New Delhi.
Note:
The fair was organized by Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) India.
Around 312 participants from 14 states of India has participated in the Fair.
3. The Union Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma has announced to host the mega-cultural event "Bharat Parv" from 26th
January at ____Red Fort.
Note:
Bharat Parv will be organized from 26th to 31st January at Red Fort.

products along with the use of energy efficient appliances.
Saksham is aimed to educate on various steps for fuel conservation through activities like Quiz Show, Saksham
Asian Cycling Championship, Walkathons, concerts and other activities across the country.
14. The Railways has announced the launch of Aastha Circuit Tourist Train from Guwahati (Assam)____ North-East Frontier
(NF).
Note:
The train would take the tourists to various famous religious destinations like Gangasagar, Sri Swamy Narayan
Temple, Kalighat, Birla Temple in Kolkata, Sri Jagannath Temple and Konark Temple in Puri and Bhubaneswar -
Lingaraj Temple.
The all-inclusive special tourist train will start on 17th February.
