TAX Declaration FAQs

1. What is the difference between Tax Declaration and Actual Tax Declaration?

Tax Declaration would be opened from April to January where you declare the provisional
investment you are going to make for this Financial Year with no Attachments.
Whereas, the Actual Tax Declaration would be opened from February till March where you
have to declare all the investment and submit the proof of investment to continue to get the
Tax exemption.

2. What is Provisional Tax declaration?

It is a medium where employees can give a projection of their savings at the start of the
financial year based on which tax will be computed in monthly salary. While giving
provisional declaration employees are not required to submit any supporting. Supportings
are required to be given at the time of Actual tax declaration.

3. I have updated provisional tax declaration in ESS in April do I again need to submit tax
declaration in Feb?

Yes, since from April to Jan all declarations are taken as provisional where actual proofs are
not required to be submitted. In February all previous provisional declarations are reversed
and employees are required to submit actual proofs in ESS based on that tax is computed for
February and March.

4. How can I modify the Approved amount for the next month?

You cannot modify the approved request and will have to raise a new request wherein you
need to specify only the additional amount under the Actual Amount.
For e.g.: Till January, for LIC you have declared 10,000/- and would want to include
additional amount of 5000/- then you need to specify 5000/- under Actual amount instead of
15,000 /-.

5. What should I do if my Request gets rejected?

In this case, you can modify the same request as the status of your request gets changed to
New. Just check the remarks provided by the Approver and do the necessary modification in
your existing request itself.

6. Where can I view the Tax Sheet?

Tax sheets are uploaded in RCP portal post payroll for the month is closed.. You need to log
in to RCP portal to download your tax sheet.
7. Why PAN Number of Landlord is showing mandatory field?

If monthly rent paid by the employee exceeds Rs 8333 per month, it is mandatory for the
employee to furnish PAN, Address & name of the landlord to the employer. Please note this
required as per notification of Income tax department.

8. Where should I claim for my Principal amount and Interest Amount of House Loan?

The Principal amount can be declared under Section 80C line no. 13 which is Repayment of
housing Loan. You can also include the amount used for Stamp in this section.
For Interest Amount you need to select Income from Other source under IT declaration
type- Select House property and property type will be self-occupied.

9. I have updated my declaration for Home loan principle and interest in April do I need to
again declare in Feb

Yes, the declaration updated between April to Jan is considered provisional and you need to
create a request under actual tax declaration in Feb and March and upload the proof.

10. What documents are required for Home loan exemption?

You need to attach the provisional home loan certificate given by the bank for the financial
year. The Certificate should have the breakup of Interest and principle payable for the year.

11. Why Lenders Type required Interest on House property?

As per new amendments in Income Tax Law Lender's Name, PAN of Lender and Lender's
Type should be provided mandatorily while declaring 'Deduction towards Interest under
Section 24.

For loan taken from Bank Lenders Type should be Financial Institution. If the source is other
than bank, then you can select Other.

12. I have paid stamp duty and registration in the current financial year where should I
update in ESS and what document is required?

You need to update stamp duty and registration under ESS Actual Tax declaration Sec 80
C Deduction Repayment of housing loan. You need to attach the copy of Index II and the
copy of challan.
13. What should I do to declare Let out property exemption?

You are requested to contact Finance Department (Mr. Abhijit Saha) for declaring let out
property.

14. How can I claim Medical Reimbursement?

Please note for claiming Medical reimbursement you need to raise the medical
reimbursement claim in FBP portal and attach the bills.

15. How can I claim exemption on Donation U/s 80G?

Donations of any nature will have to be claimed while filing annual returns by the employee.
The same will not be granted through Payroll.

16. How can I claim LTA exemption?

Claim for LTA needs to be raised on the FBP portal where employee can enter the amount
which is being claimed. Original proofs such as boarding pass, rail tickets etc. as prescribed
under Income Tax Act need to be submitted to Finance Department.

17. I want to claim exemption under sec 80DDB for medical treatment for Chronic diseases
please let me know the procedure to claim exemption u/s 80DDB.

Employees claiming for exemption under section 80DDB for Medical treatment for chronic
diseases have to submit Form-10 1 authenticated by a specialist doctor confirming the
treatment of the disease along with the details of expenditure incurred.

You can update this in ESS Actual Tax declaration Sec 80 Deduction Medical treatment.

18. How can I claim exemption on premium deducted from my salary for top up coverage
under corporate medical policy?

There is no need to declare in ESS since this has been recovered in payroll the exemption is
added by default in tax sheet.
19. I have a policy whose due date of payment is in March how can I show it in Feb for
claiming exemption?

In such cases employees can attach the receipt of last year of the same policy and claim for
exemption in Feb. After the payment is done can share the copy of receipt with Abhijit Saha
in Finance for record purpose.

20. I have joined in between the financial year and in want to declare previous
employment income what document is required to be submitted?

Employees have to submit full and final tax sheet of previous company with proper seal and
signature. The document should be in PDF format and no excel sheets are acceptable.

21. Medical Insurance Premium deducted through Salary?

Any premium amount deducted through salary will be automatically considered under
Medical treatment (Non Senior Citizen) under 80 Deductions.
