Katya is a good student with an GPA of 3.0.

She had a test of anxiety because she had to

do her chemistry exam to get her scholarship. Even though she works hard, she still doesn't

believe that her efforts will do more for the exam. Anxiety can lead to difficulty concentrating,

preventing us from recalling the materials we have learned. If I were Katya, I would seek

professional help and communicate with the professor about what had happened. Professionals

who know the impact of the test may be able to provide clarity and confidence for Katya,

because she is not the only one. Let the teacher know how serious the problem might be to make

Katya feel relieved or content about the exam.

Just like Katya, I also have much stress after I attend college. My stress came from

transferring to a 4-year university. When I was in high school, my mom wanted me to go straight

to one of the UCs but she didnt really communicate with me in a good way. She doesnt know

how stressed I am in school, so I decided to talk to her about it and she agreed with me to let me

go to community college first and then transfer to 4-year university. After I start college, I really

regret that I didnt study well in high school. I start to study hard and wanted to go to a 4-year

university as soon as possible, so I give myself a lot of pressure. I took as much classes as I can

the first year and realized is not easy. So, I always have problems with my sleep and time

management. A lot of tests will be on the same day and I was just so stressed out, I give up on

studying. I did not seek professional help at that time because I didnt know. My mom feel I was

unhappy, so she talked to me and it helped me release my stress.

There are many ways that we can relief stress. From my personal experience, find

someone that you trust to talk to instead thinking it over and over in your mind. It would be more

stressful if you keep on thinking over within yourself. Time management is also important, I am

keeping a check list now for myself because I used to procrastinate. It is a bad habit, so I learned
to have a check list and write down the due dates for my assignments. That way, I can see how

much assignments are due in the week and manage my time to not get stressed out. Also, when

there is a test I would sit in a corner of the classroom so that I dont get distracted, I can

concentrate on my test. If it still bothers me, I would talk to my professor before and let my

professor decide for me. When I get test anxiety, I would think it over because one test doesnt

decide my future. There is always some other way that I can make it up. For Katya, she is

stressed because she want to get her scholarship but there are other scholarships too. She should

think of it as a whole and not stuck in just this situation.

Here are some recommendations for students that have stress. First, I have read an article

about a study that highlight the beneficial effects of yoga practice on the biological parameters of

healthy young people, such as oxidative stress, antioxidant components, immune function and

secretion of stress hormones. The study was carried out by college students recruited from

healthy volunteers and divided into two groups: control group (no yoga intervention group) and

yoga group. Yoga practice 90 minutes a week, spread every week for 12 weeks, it is

recommended to practice at home every day for 40 minutes, with the help of DVD. Yoga classes

include yoga postures, involving conscious, voluntary breathing exercises and meditation

exercises. In conclusion, regular yoga exercises significantly reduce oxidative stress and improve

the bodys antioxidant levels. In addition, yoga has a beneficial effect on the release of stress

hormones and the improvement of immune function. Second, music therapy can be an effective

way to prevent stress and contribute to the cause of the disease. For this study, participants in the

Los Angeles state university of California annual replacement nutrition class of the college

students were instructed to choose a song in class. After listening to each song selection,

participants provided written feedback based on 9 question. The result came out to be listening to
music can benefit anyone under stress. Third, I read an article about the effects of emotional

dysregulation and test anxiety on GPA. College is considered to be one of the most important

periods of evaluation and stress in the academic career of students. Students unable to adjust

their emotions may be associated with increased levels of test anxiety. In this study, the

relationship between emotional anxiety, test anxiety and academic performance was determined

by the difficulty of the emotion regulation scale, the cognitive test anxiety scale and the self-

reporting point average.
