5 min Beginning the Lesson
Show a picture of a tree with a lot of leaves and ask the class what they notice of the
picture. Some will mention to have observed the leaves on the tree. Okay class just like
how you see leaves on that tree so is nouns they have a lot of branches and these branches
have leaves. Therefore, today we are going to look at different branches of nouns.

Developing the Lesson


So, class under nouns we have types of nouns and they are proper and

common nouns.

Proper nouns refer to specific people, places, things and ideas. Common
nouns are all other nouns. For example: cat, pencil, paper, etc.

Examples of common nouns include refer to specific people, places, things


and ideas. A person's name (Leah Graham) is a proper noun, for example.
Other examples are names of places (Atlanta, Georgia) and names of things
Note; Proper nouns are always capitalized and common nouns are not
capitalized unless they are starting the sentence.
