GUIDELINES OM a aa OU ae AU) Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) refers toa system of school-based evaluation of students that covers all the aspects of students’ development, ‘The assessment will cover both scholastic and co-scholastic aspects and will be carried out in schools over the two terms, Term 1 and Term 2 by means of formative and summative assessments using a variety of tools and techniques. For purpose of teaching and assessment, the syllabus for different subjects may be difureated into two terms. ‘The scheme of CCK is broadly divided into 2 parts. Scholastic Assessment (Part I) (9 Point Grading Scale) Formative Assessment (Flexible Timing) + Tools : Questions, Observation schedule, Interview schedule, Checklist, Rating scale, Anecdotal records, Document analysis, Tests and inventories, Portfolio analysis + Techniques: Examination, Assignments, Quizzes and competitions, Projects, Debates, Elocution, Group discussions, Club activities, Experiments, Just-a-Minute, Research ‘Summative Assessment (Written, End of Term) Objective type, Short answer, Long answer ‘There will be four Formative Assessments (FA) cach with a weightage of 10%. There are two Summative Assessments (SA1 and SA2) with a weightage of 80% each. Formative Assessment is a tool used by the teacher to continuously monitor a students progress in a non threatening, supportive environment. Formative Assessment can be carried through using multiple modes of assessment such as Assignments, Quizzes, Debates, Group discussions, Projects and only one Pen and Paper Test. It may be clearly communicated toall teachers teaching various subjects that all Projects and Assignments must be done as group activities within ‘the class and school time only. Hach subject must have only one Paper Pencil Test under Formative Assessment. ‘The other modes of assessment must be part of classroom interactive activities. It is advised that within each term, schools use the Paper Pencil Test only once for assessing student performance under Formative Assessment. Itis mandatory that teachers use at least 3~4 different assessment tools during the term for each Formative “Assessment. Summative Assessment is carried out at the end of the course of learning. It measures or ‘sums-up’ how much a student has learnt from the course. It is usually a graded test, i.., it is marked according to a scale or setof grades, ‘The Summative Assessment is a written, end of the term examination which may consist of objective types, short answer and long answer questions. Features of Summative Assessment + Assessment of learning + Generally taken by students at the end of a unit or semester to demonstrate the ‘sun’ of what they have orhave not learnt. + Summative assessment methods are the most traditional way of evaluating student's work. Types of Questions ‘The answer may vary from one word to several paragraphs. Such type of questions are also called as {free- response’ questions. Objective type Objective Type Questions In these type of questions students have to answer them by selecting the correct answer among the provided choices. Question Form b, Incomplete Statement For making evaluation comprehensive, both scholastic and co-scholastic aspects should be given importance. Co-scholastic areas will consist of Life-Skills, Attitudes and Values, Co-scholastic Activities and Health and Physical Education.
