If the connected DVD player or DVD recorder cannot digitally output audio from DVD-Audio discs (it may be a HDMI Ver. 1.0 unit), connect it through
the DVD/DVD 6CH analog terminals. ( page 4).
The DVD units video and audio signals are not transmitted directly to the TV when you turn the unit to standby. To play a DVD on a TV only, directly
connect the DVD player or DVD recorder to the TV. (Refer to the operating instructions of the connected equipment for further details.)

Change the settings to tailor your equipment to the environment in which you are using it. Before making any changes, read the following descriptions of
the settings and refer to the instructions for the speakers and equipment.
The settings remain intact until they are changed, even after the power is turned off.
1 Customizing your receiver ( pages 12-15)

There are two ways to customize the receiver, and details of both are provided below.
A. Using the On Screen Display ( page 12) B. Using the Multi control ( page 14)

main unit.

When the signal is connected to the HDMI terminal, the input signal from the HDMI
Input Mode IN MODE terminal takes priority (DVD or DVR only).
ANALOG: Fixes the input signal to analog and plays.
DIGITAL: Fixes the input signal to HDMI (DVD or DVR only), OPT and COAX digital and play.
PCM FIX: Fixes the input signal to PCM and plays.

When using the HDMI connections for the DVD player or DVD recorder
To record, follow the method described below.
Connect the recording equipment to this units DIGITAL OPTICAL OUT
terminal (page 10).
To record the video, connect the DVD player, DVD recorder or recording
equipment to this unit with a video connection cable (pages 4 and 8).

Follow your recording units operating instructions.
You cannot have digital output when DVD-Audio and sampling frequency
more than 48 kHz. Use an analog connection in this case (pages 4 and 8).
Start the source to be recorded.

Note
Follow your equipments operating instructions. With a tape deck, you can record any analog source except TAPE.
With a DVD recorder/VCR, you can record any analog source except
TAPE and DVR/VCR1.
With digital recording equipment, you can record any digital source

When you select DVD ANALOG 6CH mode, only sound from the front
left and right channels is recorded.
Some sources do not allow digital recording. Connect through the
analog terminals.

Troubleshooting guide
Before requesting service, make the following checks. If you are in doubt about some of the check points, or if the remedies indicated in the
chart do not solve the problem, refer to the Customer Services Directory on page 27 if you reside in the U.S.A., or refer to the Product
information on page 26 if you reside in Canada.
