Dear Human Resources Director,

I am writing in reference to the position for the Financial Aid Director position with
Eastern Arizona College. I am a graduate of Texas Womans University with a BBA in Business
Management with an emphasis in Human Resources. I am currently enrolled at Northern Arizona
University to obtain my Masters in Educational Leadership-Community College/Higher
Education. I will be graduating in May 2017. I am very interested in having this opportunity to
continue to work with college students. I have worked with college students for over nine years
and have enjoyed every part of it. I also lived abroad for eight months in France and have
experience in working with international students as well. After being employed in other fields
of work, I have come to realize that working within a college setting and helping students pursue
their goals and dreams is what gives me fulfillment of life.

I started as a student assistant and moved up to a full time employee in the financial aid
office at Texas Womans University. I have worked under administrative staff in all areas,
including data entry, loans, and processing, thus giving me an overview of how students are
eligible for financial aid. I counseled students and parents on ways to help them to continue their
education with the help of financial aid. My daily routine while employed with Texas Womans
University, included importing and exporting (via AdvanTG web) all loan information including
guarantees, loan fund disbursements (EFT's), corrections, and reports. I was also responsible for
meeting with lenders, returning all loan funds by federally mandated deadlines, reporting to
Controllers Office all disbursements and returns, and prepared adjustments to loan awards.
Other miscellaneous tasks included supervising and training student assistants, running tracking
letters, auditing students files, preparing promissory notes and assisting with school orientations.

I have been employed by Eastern Arizona College for five years and have learned and
contributed to the financial aid office. I am consistently finding ways to streamline our processes
and to make sure others in the office know of changes. I communicate with the rest of the
campus to let them know of changes that are coming with federal regulations. While employed in
the financial aid office, I have found processes to allow the disbursement to run smoothly,
implemented ways to second check work performed by employees, resulting in no audit findings
and have served on committees to volunteer my ideas of how to help the students at Eastern
Arizona College.

I feel confident that my expertise will continue to benefit Eastern Arizona College. If you
have questions, or if you want to schedule an interview, please contact me. I look forward to
meeting you to discuss continued employment opportunities with Eastern Arizona College.

Sincerely,

Exsa Smith
