INTRODUCTION

The existence of ICTs does not transform teacher practices in and

of itself. However, ICTs can enable teachers to transform their teacher

practices, given a set of enabling conditions. Teachers pedagogical

practices and reasoning influence their uses of ICT, and the nature of

teacher ICT use impacts student achievement.

Pedagogical practices of teachers using ICT can range from only

small enhancements of teaching practices using what are essentially

traditional methods, to more fundamental changes in their approach to

teaching. ICTs can be used to reinforce existing pedagogical practices as

well as to change the way teachers and students interact.

The use of ICTs as presentation tools (through overhead and LCD

projectors, television, electronic whiteboards, guided "web-tours", where

students simultaneously view the same resources on computer screens)

is seen to be of mixed effectiveness. While it may promote class

understanding of and discussion about difficult concepts (especially

through the display of simulations), such uses of ICTs can re-enforce

traditional pedagogical practices and divert focus from the content of

what is being discussed or displayed to the tool being utilized.

The use of technology in everyday teaching and learning activities

appears to be more important than specific instruction in "computer

classes". While the development of technology skills is seen to have a role

in the teaching and learning process, it is more important as an enabler

of other teaching and learning practices, and not too important in and of

itself. Schools that report the highest levels of student ICT-related skills

and experience are often not those with heavy computer course

requirements, but rather ones that made use of ICTs on a routine basis

throughout the teacher professional development and the teaching and

learning process.

Effective teacher professional development should approximate the

classroom environment as much as possible. "Hands-on" instruction on

ICT use is necessary where ICT is deemed to be a vital component of the

teaching and learning process. On-going professional development at the

 school level, using available ICT facilities, is seen as a key driver for

success, especially when focused on the resources and skills directly

relevant to teachers everyday needs and practices.

The most significant factor for continuing the development of

teachers ICT-related skills is for them to have regular access to

functioning and relevant ICT equipment.

LEGAL BASIS

Pursuant to Division Memorandum no. 31, s 2016 states that: for

the maximum and better utilization of the DepEd Computerization

Program (DCP) packages, the School ICT Coordinator both in the

Elementary and Secondary must be oriented and equipped fully to fulfill

their roles in the school level.

In harmony with the memorandum from the Schools Division

Isabela, all School ICT Coordinators should have to roll-out the acquired

knowledge and skills to their fellow mentors in their respective schools.

CONCLUSION

On the basis of assessment on the conduct of the School-Based

Learning Action Cell (LAC) sessions of Mapuroc Elementary School, the

skills, knowledge and values of ICT imparted to the teachers of MES

manifest their preparedness in shaping the minds of every learner to

become 21st century learner. It is also important that the ICT coordinator

of the school should continuously share knowledge and ideas with

regards to 21st century updates.

Opening Session

Opening Session (October 24, 2016)

The School ICT Literacy Training cum Workshop commenced on October
24, 2016. After the arrival of the participants, Ms. Lolita Sison led the prayer
before the Roll Call made by Ms. Editha C. Acoba.
The Speaker (Mr. Jhun P. Bautista) explained that the training will be
done in 5 days every 3:00 Oclock in the afternoon. He also expressed his deep
appreciation to the School Head, Mr. Ronald Y. Basubas, for giving him the
opportunity to become the speaker for the LAC sessions and most specially in
implementing the said LAC.

Session 1: Google Drive & Google Forms

The session was chaired by Mr. Bautista and there were two topics. The
use of google drive and how to make google forms.
Mr. Bautista stated that everyone who want to use the google drive must
have their google account. He asked the participants to log in using their own
google accounts in their laptops. He explained that the importance of having
google drive is like having an external drive in the web. So wherever you go, if
you have your google drive and gadget, you can always access your files as long
as you have internet connection. He gave instructions on how to use the google
drive: how to upload files, make folders, downloading files, and sharing files. He
also specified that uploading and downloading through google drive is safe
because google automatically scans all files uploaded thru the drive.
Mr. Bautista also discussed about the importance of Google Forms. He
said that mostly online reports now used google forms, much likely if it is
surveys or statistical data. He showed the steps on how to make survey
through google forms. After the instructions, he let the participants try to make
their own survey forms using google forms. He also explained that they can
share the forms using some social media like facebook and twitter, so that it
can be easily opened thru its URL.
The session ended at 5:30 in the afternoon.
Session 2: LIS & MS Excel (October 25, 2016)
Mr. Bautista gave the LIS accounts of the teachers for them to log-in. He
asked the participants to review their queries about LIS. He then gave
instructions on how to manage their own LIS accounts like changing their
username and password, updating their personal data, and accessing their
learners data.
Mr. Bautista showed the basic formulas in computing thru excel. The
formula for summation and averaging. He discussed on how to construct tables
the simplest way. He also explained the ways of copying and pasting. He gave
activities in formulating their own formula. He also gave tip on how to use the
flash fill and goal-seek command in excel 2013. He gave data to the
participants to practice on how to construct basic graphs.

Session 3: MS Exel & MS Word (October 26, 2016)

Mr. Bautista shared the file for Automated E-Class Record from the
DepEd Central Office and the Auto-Card from a generous ICT coordinator. He
stated the legal basis of the E-classrecord and the ways and guidelines in
accomplishing the file. He said that every subject, they only have to put their
learners name in the first sheet. He reminded the participants to always put a
Highest Score.
Mr. bautista presented the presentation for ICT Champ and MS word
application. He discussed the tips and tricks in using Microsoft Word 2013
such as making automatic table of contents, page layout, mail merge, and the
orientation of the page.

Session 4: MS Powerpoint & Moviemaker

Mr. Bautista started the session by showing the participants a sample of
interactive quiz. He emphasized the importance and use of interactive quizzes.
He then gave the step-by-step instruction on how to construct interactive quiz.
He also stated that having many emoticons will surely help in making
interactive quiz. He emphasized that they should use the correct and
appropriate emoticons.
After the discussion, workshop of the participants has been done and
they found out that the difficult part is in the animation and hyperlinks but
the participants said that constant practice will help them create quizzes more
easily.
As ice-breaker, Mr. Bautista showed a picture presentation about the
accomplishments of the school with background music and narration. After
that, he introduced the application Moviemaker which is just one of the video
editing softwares. He then gave step-by-step instructions like inserting
picture/video clip, music, inserting transitions and effects, and text in the
movie clip while the participants trying to do the instructions.

Session 5: MS Publisher
The last days topic was making posters using the Microsoft Publisher
software. He stressed that there are more applications in publishing but the
Microsoft Publisher is more user-friendly. He discussed the topics on how to
insert and lay-out images and texts. He showed how to make texts more
attractive. He also explained how to crop and transform images to make a
stunning design.
He showed the step-by-step direction and afterwards he gave extra time
for the participants to make their own posters applying the topics that have
been discussed.
After all the topics and activities have been discussed and done, a
community singing was held through Miss Nedy Garo and after that the report
of the Rapporteur and the commitment. Subsequently, the management
distributed certificates to the participants.
The discussions and activities done by the management and participants
provide a basis for further ICT trainings and more time allotment for the
workshops.
The enthusiasm shown by the participants throughout the five-day
session showed the great interest and potential for 21 st Century teachers in
Mapuroc Elementary School.

COMMITMENT / IMPRESSIONS

The 5-day ICT Literacy Training is about to end, have we learned

something from what we have heard? In our mind and in our hearts, have we
heard the voices asking for assistance, did we listen to them? Or we just ignore
and do other things.
Things weve heard, things weve learned is not just for our own
intellectual development, our exact answer to the call of the innocent minds
who are eager to be filled with wisdom.
I do believe that if a pupil hasnt listen, the teacher hasnt taught so it is
our responsibility to develop the child to the utmost of his ability by taking
seriously what we have learned today and with the divine assistance and
earnest effort make and move the young generation so as to become productive
citizens.
And in behalf of all the teaching staff, Im giving a commitment through a
successful teaching applications which will be installed in our minds and be
used to teach our pupils with love and care.

Deep within the CPU in our hearts, we have committed to install the
following applications:

Microsoft Word for the fluency and mastery of the lesson (coz I believe
master na natin ang yan)
Microsoft Excel for the techniques and methodologies we are going to
use during our lesson
Microsoft Powerpoint for the Enthusiasm of the activities
Windows Movie Maker for the Self Control
Publisher for industry
Google for Carefulness

We commit ourselves to install these applications with patience together

in our laptops with love and understanding (virus free).
I do believe that in whatever we desire to do and we wish to become with
Gods guidance we can do and we can become no matter what.
