awareness( turning, twisting, bending, stopping, swaying)

Concepts or Skills: Effort awareness (speeds, rhythm, absorbing force,

dimensions) Action awareness (locomotor skills, stability skills,) Space
awareness( space, directions, level, pathways) Body awareness (body parts,
roles, locations)

Description: Tell children to listen to the directions and move to the music.
Girls listen and do the movement hen boys listen and do the movements,
Then all together the dance. Children must listen to the music and free
dance around.

Time: 3 minutes

5. Activity: Cool Down

Materials: none
Skill Theme: Stability (stretching, bending, turning, twisting, rolling)

Concepts or Skills: Body Awareness (body parts, body shapes, roles,

locations), Space Awareness (directions, levels, space, level, pathways) Effort
awareness (speeds, degrees of force, absorbing force, flow)

Description:

Hold your hands together and stretch your arms up high in the
air, then stretch your arms down real low, then back up again
and then down. (2 times)
Shake it out
Now hands on our hips and twist, slow the fast, and slow

Lean to one side, then back together, lean to the other side
then together

Time: 3 minutes.

Integrated content area(s): Movement and Math will be integrated by

the children listening to the beats and rhythm and patterns with the change
in the tempo.

Movement Experience 2 Outdoor 15 Minute Movement Plan
1. Activity: Warm Up
Materials: ribbon bracelets

Skill Theme: Manipulative and Stability (stretching, bending, turning,

twisting)

Concepts or Skills: Body Awareness (body parts, body shapes, roles,

locations), Space Awareness (directions, levels, space, level, pathways) Effort
awareness (speeds, degrees of force, absorbing force, flow)

Description:

Hold your back and neck up straight and stand on tip toes
Pick up your ribbon bracelet and wav it while you hold your arms
out and lean to right then left
Stand with legs apart and bend one knee, while waving your
ribbon bracelet, then the other

2. Activity: Shape jump and measure

Materials: Cut out shapes from shelf liner, masking tape and yard sticks
Skill Theme: Measuring and Locomotor Skills
Concepts or Skills: Space, direction, flow and location
Description: The children will have 4 lines where there are shapes spaced
out with a start line. A partner will measure with a yard stick how far the
child jumps or leaps to the shape. Once the child gets to the shape they will
name it by shouting it. Once the children made their way down the path of
shapes they will (with teacher help) record the highest number and run to
the end of the line. This will continue until all children have a turn. It can
continue a second time if they would like to. Could also do a jump off for the
greatest distance.
Time: 5 minutes

3. Activity: Rhythm Stick Movement

Materials: homemade rhythm sticks
Skill Theme: Manipulative and Locomotor
Concepts or Skills: Space awareness, Effort awareness, and Body
Awareness
Description: The children will be instructed to follow directions modeled by
teacher with the rhythm sticks. They will focus on body awareness by being
able to identify the parts to touch and tap with the rhythm sticks. I will have
them touch their friends shoulders with both of the sticks identifying the blue
end and rainbow end. Then they will walk around in a line with pathways; zig
zag and straight. The children will recognize patterns and be able to repeat
them. I will call out different ways for the children to manipulate them.
Time: 4 minutes

Materials: Small balls

Skill Theme: Stability (turning, bending, balancing, jumping, stretching)

Concepts or Skills: Effort awareness (speeds, dimension) Space awareness
(directions, levels) Body awareness (body parts, roles, location)

Description: Each child gets a small ball to hold in his/her hands. Give
directions like, put the ball over your head, between your knees, behind your
back, etc. Vary the speeds, slow, medium, and fast. Vary the levels, high,
middle, and low.

Time: 5 minutes

Activity: Bean Bag Toss
