Data quality for data science, predictive analytics, and big data in supply

chain management

supply chain professionals are inundated with data, motivating new ways of
thinking about how data are produced, organized, and analyzed. This has
provided an impetus for organizations to adopt and perfect data analytic
functions (e.g. data science, predictive analytics, and big data) in order to
enhance supply chain processes and, ultimately, performance. However,
management decisions informed by the use of these data analytic methods
are only as good as the data on which they are based. In this paper, we
introduce the data quality problem in the context of supply chain
management (SCM) and propose methods for monitoring and controlling data
quality. In addition to advocating for the importance of addressing data
quality in supply chain research and practice, we also highlight
interdisciplinary research topics based on complementary theory.

How big data can make big impact: Findings from a systematic review and a
longitudinal case study

Big data has the potential to revolutionize the art of management. Despite
the high operational and

strategic impacts, there is a paucity of empirical research to assess the

potential of big data. Drawing

on a systematic review and case study findings, this paper presents an

interpretive framework that

analyses the definitional perspectives and the applications of big data. The
paper also provides a

general taxonomy that helps broaden the understanding of big data and its
role in capturing business

value. The synthesis of the diverse concepts within the literature on big data
and operations
management provides deeper insights into achieving value through big data
strategy and

implementation

Advanced analyticsdriven data analyses allow enterprises to have a

complete or 360 degrees view of their operations and customers. The
insight that they gain from such analyses is then used to direct, optimize, and
automate their decision making to successfully achieve their organizational
goals. Data, text, and web mining technologies are some of the key
contributors to making advanced analytics possible. This paper aims to
investigate these three mining technologies in terms of how they are used
and the issues that are related to their effective implementation and
management within the broader context of predictive or advanced analytics.

Big data analytics in e-commerce: A systematic review and agenda for

future research

There has been an increasing emphasis on big data analytics (BDA) in e-

commerce in recent years. However,

it remains poorly-explored as a concept, which obstructs its theoretical and

practical development. This

position paper explores BDA in e-commerce by drawing on a systematic

review of the literature. The paper

presents an interpretive framework that explores the definitional aspects,

distinctive characteristics, types,

business value and challenges of BDA in the e-commerce landscape. The

paper also triggers broader
discussions regarding future research challenges and opportunities in theory
and practice. Overall, the

findings of the study synthesize diverse BDA concepts (e.g., definition of big
data, types, nature, business

value and relevant theories) that provide deeper insights along the cross-
cutting analytics applications in ecommerce.
