This examination book is intended to be used as a job aid by Coast Guard

port state control officers during boardings of foreign-flagged freight
vessels only. This book contains an extensive list of possible examination
items. It is not, however, the Coast Guards intention to inspect all items

book are applicable to all vessels, Section 1 should be filled out in its
entirety at each examination and reexamination.
