Dear Jaycees
I am very happy to greet you all through
MARUTHAM ALAI, the bulletin of JCI
Coimbatore Marutham. JCI Coimbatore
Marutham is a chapter that is getting young
year by year and is consistently having
members and leaders less than 30 years of
age. This LOM is making waves and the
biggest of waves is this wave or Alai
Marutham Alai. I have read all issues of
Marutham Alai and I offer my
congratulations to my creative friend,
Jc.Pon.Rathnavel. Our Team 17 of Zone 17 for
Year 17 is making a mark for itself. Your
young and dynamic President, Jc.Arun Kumar
is an integral member of the team and more
is expected in the future for JCI Coimbatore
Marutham. Team.
Our National President wants every child to
have access to safe drinking water. Please
implement SUJAL for all primary schools in
area and ensure that our future , our children
grow up without difficulties.
As a Zone President, I want each and every
LOM and Jaycee to avoid Plastic Bags and
switch to cloth/paper bags. This will create
an impact in the society by reducing the
impact on our environment. I seek your
strongest support in this effort.
Our job is to educate the community with
zeal and Iet us do it wholeheartedly.
Let us focus on providing sustainable
solutions to our community. Every
sustainable solution you provide to our
society will be featured on our Focus One.
Coimbatore is a big city and needs a lot of
solutions. Marutham means crop lands and I
request you Jaycees to harvest solutions for
your city. An aeroplane does not stop
running on the end of its runway. It starts
flying. Similarly we should not stop at the
end of our foreseen path. We should start
pursuing to our next goal.

GLOBAL YOUTH EMPOWERMENT FUND
The Global Youth Empowerment Fund is an
initiative to empower young people around the
world to impact their communities by investing in
grassroots, community projects.
It is a partnership of JCI and the SDG Action
Campaign. The Fund offers grants, financing and
training to youth-led projects and social
enterprises that advance the Global Goals for
Sustainable Development in local communities
around the world.
The GYEF mobilizes young people, aged 18 to 40,
to advance the Global Goals for Sustainable
Development through targeted community
projects that create awareness and ownership of
community progress among all citizens.
The GYEF engages all sectors of society namely
business, government and civil society in the
Global Goals by supporting youth-led,
community-based initiatives worldwide.
The GYEF demonstrates the power of young
people to create sustainable change, using the JCI
Active Citizen Framework, on a global scale
through advocacy, action and evaluation.
The GYEF grantees should focus their community
impact project on one or more of the 17 global
sustainable development goals namely (1) No
Poverty (2) Zero Hunger (3) Good Health and
Well-being (4) Quality Education (5) Gender
Equality (6) Clean Water and Sanitation (7)
Affordable and Clean Energy (8) Decent Work and
Economic Growth (9) Industry, Innovation and
Infrastructure (10) Reduced Inequalities (11)
Sustainable Cities and Communities (12)

Revering a Jaycee who was an inspiration INJC

My most inspirational person in Jaycees is Jc. P. Jegannathan from JCI Coimbatore
Indcity, a well known trainer and Jaycee for nearly 20 years. He is always some one
who prefers to stand out rather than fit in. I have always admired Jegan Anna for
looking at things from a different perspective which normally others do not see. Jegan
Anna is also very vocal and brutal in his opinion and if you are looking for
improvement, he is the best person to request feedback. He has an eye on talent and
he had identified many people and brought them to Jaycees. A few examples are our
Past National President, Jc.Subramanian, Past Zone President , Jc.Palanaiappan and
our LOM Past President, Jc.Rathnavel. I dont think I need to say that he is a versatile

STORYBOARD A Tale to Tell
A couple were going on vacation. But the travel
plans was that his wife was on a business trip
and that he went to the destination first and his
wife would meet him the next day.
Once he reached his hotel, he decided to send
his wife a quick SMS. Unfortunately, when
typing her number, he mistyped a digit and his
note was directed instead to an elderly
preachers wife whose husband had passed
away only the day before.
When the grieving widow checked her message
inbox, she took one look at the monitor, let out
a piercing scream, and fell to the floor in a dead
faint.
At the sound, her family rushed into the room
and saw this note on the screen:

Just got checked in.

Inducing Thoughts JUST IMAGINE
In this new section, we create an imaginary situation to understand the thought process of our leaders. For this issue, we
asked our PZP S.M.Palaniappan and 3 of his LOM Presidents of 2014 to imagine them receiving a gift of Rs.10000 to
spend for a JCI cause within a day. Lets understand their perspective through their answers.

We Jaycees are active citizens of the
community. Today our community
expects us to be sensitive to its needs,
that too at a rapid pace. NPs Programmes
like SUJAL this year or like SAMADHAN
are indicators of the need to our society.
If I am provided Rs.10,000 I shall
contribute the same to SUJAL, the
National Project of our current National
President, Jc.Ramkumar which is a
wonderful initiative. With this
I would hand over the same to our current LOM President
and ask him to use the amount for a community project
that is need of the hour. I believe that different
communities have different needs at different points of
time. I am sure that this amount will be useful to address a
problem faced by a community at that time.
