SUBJECT: Exemplary Library Media Program Self-Evaluation
Dear Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Sims,

Upon completing the Exemplary Library Media Program Self-Evaluation Rubric on the
Pine Grove Media Center, I found the following category to fall in the proficiency areas category
number 6, 12 and 15. I had 3 areas of concern. The first area was number 6 which states that
student achievement is routinely assessed, the media specialist will assist teachers in using the
data to create better forms for raising student achievement. However, she does not have all
teachers who reach out in this area, so that is something she will suggest. Hopefully this will
encourage more teachers use her as a resource. The second area of weakness is number 12,
which deals with interactive whiteboards, which were not installed in the school, a decision made
throughout the county. The last category number 15 deals with Galileo and its instruction and
promotion. The media specialist is planning on having a parent night in November to discuss the
uses of Galileo for students and parents. The media specialist also is going to start teaching a
class to all students each year. This will hopefully increase Galileo use and create students who
are comfortable using Galileo. Since the media specialist is already conducting a class for
faculty, with a refresher course as needed, the use of Galileo should be increased and moved into
the exemplary category.

Sincerely,
Teara Powell
SLMS Student
