If you could change one thing about TC Central High School what would it be?(126
responses)
Some of the teachers
Some of the teachers
Nothing
Nothing
I have no clue
The way they run things
the off campus policy
guidlines towards what grade you are
I would start the day earlier
no homework
Have nicer teachers
the peers
lunch
I like how this school is now.
Don't ever do Student Lead Confrences again.
staff
The teachers could understand that we have a life outside of school
have better hot lunch
the teaching style
less classwork
The students
I would let people be able to switch lunch for any reason
the head principal
better bio teachers
off campus
There needs to be way less drug activity in the school, not cool at all.
the workload
The way 9th graders are treated differently from all other grades.
Teachers have a plan for what they are doing for the week
Let Freshman and sophomores leave campus
The requirment of 2 credits of a language.
Start school later because it is proven that students succeed more when their
schools start later
having to participate in activities that involve presenting in front of the class
take more time to make sure students are comfortable with their safety in school.
the amount of homework
No english class but that is because I do not like english. A realistic thing I would
change is better teachers
get assignments done earlier rather than rush them later
the amount of argument essays you have to do each year in order to pass 9th grade
Make the day shorter
Remove certain units in classes that are not necessary to learn and that do not
serve importance to anybody.
How they expect everyone to learn the same way.
How people treat each other.
that 9th and 10th graders at least could get one day a week to go off campus
less work
school lunch
phones increase productivity
less major assignments
open campus for all students
The amount of homework
The lighting, it is very hard to concentrate with all the dull lighting.
homework amounts
The grading system. It doesn't effectively measure a student's knowledge.
I am not sure.
My social status
Tear down it's angular oppressive structure and give more academic freedom to the
students.
no homework to spend time with family
more money to music department/choir
Less Homework
I would lower the amount of busy work being given, such as guided reading. I want
to think and formulate my own answers
It'd be great if there were slightly shortened classes and a half an hour for
independent work.
to leave campus as soon as you are allowed to drive
Letting all grades go off campus for lunch.
support with extra curriculars and academic juggling
the way we are assessed
Teach us things that will actually be useful in our adult lives, not just important for
getting into a college
I would make Student Led Conferences not be a requirement. They are a waste of
most people's time; all of my friends' parents know how their child is doing in school
and what they need help with. It's good to meet with your child's teacher, but
parents should do that if they feel the need. It shouldn't be mandated.
To make sure that we could have more freedoms like there were in 70s/80s and
even 90s. And, or the teachers to not care as much. We should have more
responsibility.
The school would help more when kids have problems with mental health.
the amount of home work would be less
I would change the online policies, because I feel as though they are a little too
strict. I do agree that sites that contain very mature content such as excessive
profanity or pornography should be banned; however, I have found many videos on
YouTube which contain music are not available as well. For someone that highly
enjoys listening to music while I work, I find it annoying that good music is blocked,
and most likely for containing amounts of obscene content that do not warrant
censoring.
the no phone rule
Graduation requirements
The same outlook on students that most all teachers share.
teachers care more
the grade/age for leaving campus
More strict.
nothing
the time we arrive
The Locker rule
make it open campus for freshmen and sophmores
Teachers need to realize that some people just can't handle public speaking.
less picky and rude.
amount of tests
Lunch Food
congested hallways
nothing
The way homework is handled, coordinating it on different days, and limiting how
much
J
Nothing
Open campus for all grades
To be able to switch lunches for any reason
Maybe there could be more support about what happens at home. Often, my
teachers don't seem to think that issues at home could potentially affect work at
school, or how the student behaves in class.
The grade weight in some of my classes is bad. One tests are 75% and class work is
25% and its different in all my classes. It should be more consistent
better sports program funds
I don't know what I would change
the phone policey
mor survailance in f-building and c-building
underclassmen and juniors getting free hours
Everything??? It sucks here
More electives
how cramped the hallways are
more mrs. meindertsmas
I would change it so that after a test if you do not do very well on it, you review it
instead of moving to something new
the disrespect between teachers and student and the ill stressed idea that grades
matter
teachers need to stop stressing the kids out
Better lunch options
I don't know
restrictions with scheduling for SMT students
I wish we had less busy work and knew the purpose of why we learn everything.
teachers not picking favorites
How hard it is to catch up when you miss a day of school.
the wakeup time.. studies have shown it's unhealthy to wake up when we do as
teenagers
I would make it easier to put grades into the gradebook sothe students can see
them quicker.
The social pressure and the large amounts of work we are expected to complete
with little time.
Teachers would communicate more so that big projects, tests, and challenging
homework wasn't all due at the same time.
no changes at this moment
More written tests rather than multiple choice tests.
All teacher would know that certain students have out of school activities that they
might have to go to, and they would be a little more lenient with knowing the
homework might be done very late (at night).
I honestly wish that the teachers had more liberty to teach how they want to. I have
found that I learn better with teachers that use unconventional teaching methods.
Some of those include: letting us work at our own pace with work constantly being
assigned, allowing music and phones during class, or allowing more independent
work.
I'd change some of the material to make it more challenging
tables not desks
The freshman and sophomores are not allowed off campus even if they have a ride
out and back.
I would change the constant expectations for a high schooler to complete huge
projects within a small amount of time combined with other consignments.
more rooms, more teachers, smaller classes.
The teachers don't really accommodate everyone's needs. I often witness teachers
not making sure that everyone knows the material. They 'bulldoze' through the
lesson and I am still left with questions. The learning rubrics and/or scales are a
waste of time. Not every teacher does it, and for the ones who do; it just takes up
time. A person could easily just rate themselves a 3 or a 4 when they have little
idea of the lesson. Even if a person marks a 1 or a 2, I've never had a teacher ask
why. It seems that they only do it because it is required. It doesn't help AT ALL!
More forms of student input available. Establishment of a schoolwide online forum
maybe?

adapted to the system
My mindset
I didn't make changes but I should've
Not much
I had to become less lazy with my work. 9th grade is much different from 8th grade,
and demands a much higher quality to my work. I had to learn where to put my
priorities and I had to learn when to stop procrastinating.
I focused and studied more but my grades were already really good so I did not
change much
better study habits
I focused more on the task at hand, and was able to determine what was important.

Don't wait to do homework. Don't procrastinate!
time efficiency, more studying, more sleep, sacrificed things I wanted to do
I tried to keep all my work much more organized than i did in the previous semester,
and that helped my grades.
Focusing on homework instead of hanging out with friends
I worked on getting my homework done as soon as I got the opportunity so that it
wasn't forgotten or done late at night.
miniscule hanges
I changed my way of studying for tests.
I managed my time when I have sports and homework at the same time. Also,
putting away electronics while I'm doing my homework helps me complete it.
I started doing my homework right as I got home instead of late at night or at school
the next morning.
I made sure to always do my best
less time wasting
Do my homework before I watch TV and eat after school, so I get it done.
I understood the request for the completion of work every night.
Stopped over-exerting myself.
In first semester I was scared because of all what the teachers at east said about
how hard it was. I've found that it isn't really harder.
Always completing work - sleep is not my first priority. Checking grades multiple
times in a day.
