Important Circular Regarding Practical Work Evaluation

To,
The HoDs/Principal/Director/Head of Institutions of all affiliated Colleges of Bachelor of
Engineering

GTU has decided to reform the practical work evaluation (along with viva-voce) from the
academic year 2016-17 onwards. It has been decided that the practical work (along with viva-voce)
will be evaluated along with the current practice of viva for all the subjects in which there is credits
of practical. The practical work evaluation (along with viva-voce) for all such subjects from
semester 1 to 4 will be taken by the respective college for its students. That is, there will be only
internal evaluation (no external viva examination) for practical work evaluation (along with viva-
voce) in semester 1 to 4. The practical work evaluation (along with viva-voce) for all such subjects
from semester 5 to 8 will be taken by external examiner. The summary of the modification from
Semester 1 to 8 for Practical Work Evaluation as under:

*It is compulsory to have exam of practical work (along with viva voce). Viva will be conducted
for those subjects where there is no practical work but there is credit of tutorials.
# For students having backlog in the V component in semester I and II, the practical and viva

examination will be conducted by Internal Examiner along with the regular students.

The evaluation for 100 activity points will be conducted as per the existing practice as mentioned
in the circular no: GTU/Academic/2015/11904 dated 14.12.2015.

The evaluation of Practical examination in the subject of Design Engineering-IA (subject code
2130005) in BE semester 3, Design Engineering-IB (subject code 2140002) in BE semester 4,
Design Engineering-IIA (subject code 2150001) in BE semester 5 and Design Engineering-IIB
(subject code 2160001) in BE semester 6 will be conducted as per the existing practice as
mentioned in the following link put in circular dated 07.07.2016.
