Challenge Title
Storing of exhaust energy

Challenge Description

The exhaust energy that is usually released out of the passenger car vehicle is now being ( in
harvesting or reusing it or converting and feeding back to the system) optimised to reduce the energy
consumption and improve efficiency. Heat Energy recovery solution can be utilised for any other
application within the vehicle systems.

Concept Title
Thermoelectric Energy Conversion and Storage

Keywords

Concept Details

Our project aims to convert Heat energy into electrical energy to make it possible for awiderange of
applications. It is a fact that the conversion of waste heat to electricity uses less fuel to produce sufficient
amount of energy as output. Hence, the waste heat from thevehicle can be harnessed.
Our project is based on the principle of Seebeck effect where heat energy can be converted into
electrical energy and the produced energy can bestored with the help of semiconductor material.
For now, to satisfy this purpose the Lithium-ion batteries has been emerged and is also effective in
operation. But the semiconducting nanomaterial called Graphene works more efficiently to satisfy the
desired outcome. It is more advantageous than that of Lithium-ion batteries as they have high power
density, low charging time and isdurable. Though it has less energy density when compared to that of
Lithium-ion, it can be satisfied by the use of supercapacitoralong with the Graphene which in turn
increases the time ofsustainabilityof charge in the semiconductor. Thus the stored energy will remain for
a longer period of time.
It also has an advantage that the Graphene is cheaperwhen compared to the other energy storing
devices. And hence it is more economical.
And as it is a nanomaterial, the whole conversionand storing circuitry will better fit the vehicle without
consuming much space.
