JONAH AND THE WHALE

A million motile sperm cells

Each a seaman whipping a tail
Till one triumphant micro-Jonah
Is swallowed by an ovum-whale.
Among the millions of spermatozoa,
Less one, that only one,
Could be an Indira or a Curie
But that intrepid Jonah-in-the-whale
Resulted in only me!
