August 17", 2016 Dear Loring Community, It is with great excitement that | welcome you all back for the 2016-2017 school year! Over the summer we said goodbye to some of our colleagues and neighbors and we welcome all of our new friends and community members to Loring! Our new Superintendent, Ed Graff, has set a very positive tone for the start of the year. His | ‘message was about the importance of relationships, respectful listening, community awareness and engagement, equity in education and the importance of creating a safe and welcoming school for every child in Minneapolis.» in November we'll be asking the citizens of Minneapolis to vote yes for the referendum for the Minneapolis Public Schools. This referendum is crucial to continuing to provide | world-class education for all of our scholars and by helping maintain our class size | numbers. Loring Community School is a school that has been embraced by all of the stakeholders in the Victory Neighborhood. We appreciate you considering voting yes for Minneapolis Public Schools in November! Staffing Updates Over the summer two of our dear colleagues, Monica Marx, our Instructional Specialist and Robyn Hjorth-Martin, our school social worker, have left the district. We will miss them dearly but ’m working to hire top-notch replacements this week. We're mailing out classroom assignments on August 17 along with beginning of the year documents. We'll invite families to come meet teachers and to drop off school supplies on Thursday, August 25", from 2:00-4:00. I’m encouraging you to consider joining our North Side Community during our inaugural Welcome Back Barbeque at Henry High School on the evening of August 25"" from 4:00-7:00.
