The entire semester proves that I was much more in-tune with myself, was
much more organized, improved my academic grades, thus resulting in a
more disciplined self. I specifically worked on this outcome later in my
career during COM 492, and also had experience working with this
outcome in COM 230.

Outcome number twenty: Student will show knowledge of the Scientific Management theory of
leadership by Taylor.

This semester shows that I was able to identify the necessary methods of being able to worker smarter,
not harder. I always work hard, but I needed to start working smarter using the Scientific
Management theory of leadership by Taylor. I learned later in my career that I was applying the
Scientific Management theory, which I then sought out to investigate in further detail during HDF
290.
2. LEAD YOURSELF

what it take to be a leader
through the application of
leadership theories.
3. BROADEN YOUR PERSPECTIVES
UNDERSTAND OTHERS
The University of Rhode Island
By the end of my third season, I learned
1. Hierarchy of needs
2. Racial, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, religious, class,
ability, etc. diversity and commonalities
3. Power, privilege, oppression, liberation; individual and
institutional discrimination
HDF 290 was the season defining game. I learned how to tie my
previous seasons and experiences together in order to broaden my
perspectives and understand others from a leadership standpoint
SECOND CONTRACT

Scoresheet
Took the time to gain experience
in the field of work I am looking
to pursue after my fourth and
final season (Commercial Real
Estate)
I played two games, and coached
two games as an assistant coach

Outcome number eighty three: Student will create a personal code of inclusive leadership.

While coaching at MG Commercial, I was able to incorporate new forms of inclusive leadership that I was not previously
able to do as a player. The implementation of these new forms of inclusive leadership made coaching a valuable
experience. New knowledge about inclusive leadership that I learned as a coach at MG Commercial was directly applied
in my game against HDF 413.
3. BROADEN YOUR PERSPECTIVES
UNDERSTAND OTHERS
The University of Rhode Island
I took the opportunity to work on my game and gain more experience
during the o-season
1. I focused on the two games I played as opportunities to complete part
of my foreign language and Communication Studies requirements
2. While coaching, I used new forms of inclusive leadership that enabled
me to include everyone in the game, but also gave myself much more
responsibility. I was no longer only responsible for myself, but for
other members of my team, too. If I wasn't doing my job as a coach,
everyone else's game was negatively aected. It was no longer only my
grade taking a hit as a player, but the entire MG Commercial company
would take a negative hit if I did not coach well, but by including them
through eective means of inclusive leadership, we played very well.
SECOND CONTRACT

continue coaching
Through coaching, I was able to
help others become better team
players and improve their skills,
ultimately helping lead them to
success in their futures
4. DEVELOP AND REFINE SKILLS
The University of Rhode Island
By the end of the first half of my fourth season, I learned
1. Leadership theory and practice
2. Communication
3. Group Development
4. Inclusion
5. Citizen Activist Skills
6. Critical Thinking
7. Teaching and Programming
I learned each of these new skills mostly from my coaching experience during the
summer at MG Commercial and my involvement in SOLC. Both experiences allowed me
to implement the skills and knowledge I have acquired from the games I played over the
years by making improvements to my game and seeing what worked well for me.
LEAD OTHERS
The University of Rhode Island
I have demonstrated my skills in combining the four steps of Wilsons Model in
order to lead others through my
Start in the NHL on a bad note
Beginning to know myself that resulted in
Statistical improvement on the scoresheets
Leading myself helped lead me in the direction of
Coaching MG Commercial team members
As a coach, my perspectives were broadened and I understood my fellow
players much better which influenced me to
Coach SOLC participants
This way I may share my knowledge as a player and coach all the while still
being an active player finishing my last few games of my fourth season
SECOND CONTRACT

Bachelors Cup

Outcome number one hundred nine: Student will show knowledge of organizing meetings/setting agendas/and
leading meetings.

This semester, I took the role of head coach on April 2, 2017. As the head coach of an SOLC team, I needed to organize
meetings, set a team agenda, and lead the meeting. I took the head coach position and did very well, successfully
meeting the outcome requirements. Previously, I applied these skills during my game against COM 335. I had to run a
large group project against the opposition.
REFLECTION

my goals as a player
4. I took it upon myself to expand my horizons and experience life after my playing
