WHY WE NEED A FOOD REVOLUTION

By James Oliver

Were losing the war against obesity in the US. Its

sad, but true. Our kids are growing up overweight
and malnourished from a diet of processed foods,
and todays children will be the first generation ever
to live shorter lives than their parents. Its time for
change. Its time we switch to fresh food and home
cooking. Its time for a Food Revolution.

BRIDGING CULTURAL GAPS THROUGH SPORTS SECOND PART

In Unit 3 you have talked about sports and overcoming obstacles. Follow the steps below and

do the second part of Project 1, Bridging cultural gaps through sports.

TASK: After having read and selected news related to how sports have contributed positively to
the

bridging of cultural gaps, it is time to share the news with your local community and the world!

1. Produce it! In groups, organize the news by sports or countries to create a news

clipping. You can display it on a poster or make an e-clipping to share the news

you have selected. Visit the following links to create an e-clipping:

<www.scoop.it>

<www.clippings.me>

2. Share it locally! Organize an exhibition at your school to show what you and

your classmates have created. Invite teachers, family members, friends, and

other people from your community to get to know about the news clippings and

join in a discussion of the topic.

3. Share it globally! Use the Internet to create and/or share your news clipping.

THINK ABOUT IT!

Reflita sobre o desenvolvimento do projeto a

partir das questes a seguir:

Como voc se sentiu ao ler as notcias

sobre a promoo da tolerncia e do

respeito s diferenas culturais atravs

do esporte?

Como foi a exibio das notcias

selecionadas e a discusso sobre elas

na escola?
Como as pessoas reagiram aos clippings

na internet?

Voc faria alguma coisa de modo

diferente? Se sim, o qu?

Voc acredita que sua escola possa

promover iniciativas como as descritas

nas notcias? Caso sim, quais? Quais

outras iniciativas podem ser adotadas na

sua comunidade?
