Big Ideas The importance of the firefighter is to protect the

the other houses. At the same time, they rescue the life
of people living in the house.

Formative & Before the lesson, children will be asked to say what
Summative they know about the firefighter. The teacher will guide

Evidence During the lesson, students will learn that the
firefighters association is a non profit group.
Firefighters are there only for our safety. But as we
appreciate their work, we should donate to them so
that they may buy what are needed for their service
and for their safety. Students will know that firefighters
are on call 24 hours a day. At any time they hear the
fire siren, they must be ready to leave their normal
work and run to assist the neighbors who are in trouble.

Student will also know that to become a firefighter is to
work without wages. One is there for the benefit of
others first, at any time she or he may be needed.
Youre there only to fight fires and rescue lives.
Teacher will discus basic rules, such as being careful
when the children cross streets, bike safety, water
safety etc.
After the lesson, students will be asked to say what
they understand about this community activity. How do
they like the firefighters service provided to the
community?
Later students will discus the lesson by explaining what
they wear to cover themselves during a fire. Students
may pick out the correct instrument or tool, among
other tools, to use for a task in order to test them to
see whether they understand the lesson.

police officers can keep us safe

This book has many things to tell us, it introduces to
the basic ideas of community, such as working together,
importance of having rules and family. The book also
encourages children to create their own community workers
alphabet book. To give opportunity to the students to take
different pictures of workers and interview people regarding
their work and write a paragraph that clarify the work the
person working out. The explanation comes from this book,
may be crucial for students to choose community they may
like to join.
ISTE Standards
for Students Teacher with students will create a fun role play using
the knowledge taught by the firefighters to remember
Framework for during a fire. They would act or pretend to alert people
21st Century in the house in order to try to stop a fire from
Learning spreading. This will help the children to remember the
lesson.
Students will watch video and visit their local freighter
to learn more by looking, touching tools, and wearing
some tools if possible they available

Accommodation If I will have a student who has disability like Updike, I
s, Modifications would prepare an environment that I would make him
feel the same as those students who do not have
disability. He must feel accepted. I will make sure he is
in safe from those students who are making fun of him.
Due to his voice, I will ask specialist to design a loud
speaker that I can set some where in the classroom
without bothering him. I will be able to move the
speaker in any direction in room in case he may prefer
siting different seat. I do not worry much about Gallons
situation, because nowadays teachers have many
different institutions that support students like him. I
will be happy to work side by side, teaching his favorite
subject so that he may enjoy learning, and I will assist
him in reaching his goal.

people they see on the poster. What is this type of
instrument portrayed on the class wall belong to? Is it a
doctors community? Or is it a fire fighter community?
Students will go around the class wall and point out the
images that indicate people who work as firefighters
through different pictures on their class wall.

Procedure Give chance to the students to touch tools they wear
when there is a fire. Ask them to explain the difference
they see with normal clothes we wear. Teacher may
bring sample firefighter clothes for them to observe or
invite the firefighter one day to come to school and talk
to them.

the firefighters use
