Running head: EDU 330 OBSERVATION JOURNAL. 1
Reflection
enjoyed working with the special education teacher, but I feel as if there was a
significant amount of teaching missing from my time in the classroom, I contribute much of this
to the crazy testing schedule and the teachers having shortened hours with the students, Being
able to see the frustration from the special education students taking the M-STEP testing was a
major eye-opener. They seemed burnt out by the last week I was there, and I even talked to them
about it between classes. They don’t like having to take all these tests and having their schedules
change so much for over a month. Each day, the schedule was different, and it really messed
things up for them. Finally, I was really expecting to see more cooperative teaching going on in
the classroom between the special education teacher and the general education teacher. This
seemed to not be the case, and the general education teacher did most of the instruction. It
makes me want to become a cooperative general education teacher and work with the special
education teacher in order to give the students a more accommodating experience. I feel as if
this would be helpful for both the special education teacher and myself, helping the special
‘education teacher use their expertise in the classroom and coordinating ideas rather than just
using one method for teaching,
