KORG Trinity
What were the available options for the Trinity and what did they do? Are they still available?
Solo-Tri, monophonic (1-voice) physical modeling synth option. There was a model called the Trinity-
Plus which already had this option installed.
MOSS-Tri, polyphonic (6-voice) physical modeling synth option. Later Korg had a model called the
Trinity V3 which already had this board installed.
SCSI-Tri, adds a 25Pin SCSI connector to your Trinity in order to use external medial such as a Zip or Jaz
drive.
HDR-Tri, adds 4 tracks of hard disk recording to the Trinity sequencer. Also onboard is SPDIF in/out and
analog ins/outs. Note, external media did not come with the kit; therefore one must buy this separately at a
computer store. Also note, the HDR-Tri has a SCSI connection on it so no need to add SCSI-Tri.
PBS-Tri, adds sampling to the Trinity. What is interesting about this option is that the samples are
contained in Flash Rom, and therefore are saved even when the power is turned off.
These options are NO LONGER available from Korg Canada. Try http://www.ebay.com
What is the difference between the Trinity Pro and Trinity ProX?
There existed 3 keyboard models for the Trinity: Trinity (61 keys), Trinity Pro (76 keys) and Trinity ProX
(88 keys weighted action). There are also existed variations of these models such as:
Trinity Plus or Trinity V3, which are the 61-key versions with a SOLO-Tri (Plus) or MOSS-Tri board
installed (V3). The Trinity ProPlus or Trinity ProV3 and Trinity ProXPlus or Trinity ProX V3. All the
model numbers should be self-explanatory now.

I have heard rumors that I can use KARMA technology with my Triton classic, Triton Rack, Triton Le
or Triton Studio, is this true?
Karma Lab also has available KARMA Triton software, which enables a Triton user to enjoy KARMA
technology. This is not stand-alone or all-in-one software; one must have the Triton hooked up to a
computer in order to use KARMA. For more details visit http://www.karma-lab.com
Is there a rack mount version of the KARMA? Will Korg make one?
There is no rack mount version of the KARMA workstation for a very good reason. The KARMA
technology allows a user to manipulate all sorts of parameter in real-time. If the knobs and controllers are
not in reach (which would be the case with a rack) then one could not effectively use KARMAs potential.
I am new to keyboards and have no idea how to use the sequencer, is there a quicker way to get started?
One of the most powerful yet no known functions on the Triton series and KARMA keyboard is the
PRESET template. This function sets up, pending the style of music, the most common sounds one needs
and even puts a working drumbeat together for you! Go to the sequencer, touch screen top right corner pull
down menu (or push Utility F8 button) and select LOAD TEMPLATE SONG. Choose whichever style of
music you wish to record, place a check mark on copy pattern too. Once you have selected the template,
you can now select the beat, simply highlight the beat, push the sequencer start/stop button to audition the
beat, push the start/stop again to stop the audition, then use the wheel/slider or up/down buttons to audition
another beat. If you have the beat you want, simply use the OK function, repeat many times until you see
you have enough measures of drumbeat in the song. Exit this mode. Begin recording!
I would like to add a digital I/O to my Triton classic, Karma or Triton Le, can this be done?
In a word, no, this is impossible. The main board of these models cannot accommodate and will not
accommodate a digital I/O. The only models that have SPDIF right out of the gate, and an option for
ADAT/Word clock synch are the Triton Rack and Triton Studio series.
My MIDI interface is flashing like crazy, what is the Triton outputting that causes this?
What you are seeing is simply midi-clock, which the Triton is outputting. There is no need to change this
since it WILL NOT interfere with anything. If it really bugs you, go to Global mode, push the menu button
and select MIDI. Change the Clock from internal to external and write the Global settings.
TRITON LE
I have heard I can load samples into the Le without the sampling option, is this true?
One can install SIMMS modules into the Triton Le and load in wav, aif or KSC/KMP data (Korg format).
But there is one hitch. You can only load in ONE (1) wav or aif file that is it. It applies for the Korg
format files as well. What this means is that one cannot manipulate the sample once it is loaded. This is
the reason for the sampler option. However, if one has a friend who has made a bunch of KMP files, that
are mapped to different multi-sample (MS) allocations, then the Triton Le user can load in multiple KMP
files.
What kind of expansion cards can I put into the Triton Le?
The only option available for the Triton Le is the sampler, which is model # EXB-SMPL. You cannot
install the MOSS or expansion cards into the Le. Korg will never make these options available for the Le.
If you want these options, Korg Canada suggests buying the KARMA workstation, which can have up to 2
expansion boards installed and the MOSS board, but no sampling available.
I would like to upgrade my Triton Le operating system, but I do not have a Smart Media Reader writer?
Korg has now made available 2 version of the operating system for the Triton Le series. You can upgrade
either via Smart Media card (Smart Media Reader/Writer is needed) or via MIDI (software and MIDI
interface needed). Korg Canada recommends users buy a Smart Media card from your local Future Shop,
Staples, or computer store. They are inexpensive and a great time saver. Upgrades, transferring/backing
up files to and from the Le is far easier with a Smart Media Reader/Writer.
PA80/PA60
I have lost the disk that came with the Pa80/Pa60, where can I get another one?
The Korg Pa-series did not ship with diskettes. What is in the box is the music stand and owners manual.
Should the sounds and styles on this unit need restoring, then you have 2 options available.
1) Visit http://www.korgpa.com, select your language, click on downloads and finally software.
Download the 5 resource data files. While you act it, download and upgrade the operating system.

GENERAL
I would like to upgrade from my current Korg product to a new one, but I wish to be able to load
programs, combinations, drum kits, styles and songs from the old product?
With most Korg products, program, combination and global data (drum kit data is part of global) are all
exclusive to that board, meaning this data will NOT load into another Korg product. There is third party
software available on the Internet that will convert program data (such as MOSSquito, Alchemist, and
others). Please note that Korg Canada does not support this software, and that technical questions
regarding them should be directed to the software support person.
As far as songs and styles, there is an easier way. If your old Korg product is capable of saving SMF
(standard midi files) then simply save your songs as MID. Then the new Korg product will indeed be able
load this MID file. A little tweaking for sounds will be needed but the song data will remain intact. For
style data, each new professional arranger Korg has made has the capacity to load styles from older Korg
products. For example, the Pa80 and Pa60 can load Pa styles, i-series (i1/i2/i3/i4s/i5s(m)/i30) and is-series
(is35/is40/is50/i40M) styles right from disk mode. The only trick is to load one style at a time.
Are the promotions and deals from other countries applicable to Canada?

My Korg keyboard was working fine, but now I have no sound at all?
You most likely turn off the Local control. Go to Global mode on the keyboard, and page over or push the
MENU button and select MIDI. Once you see the parameter LOCAL CONTROL ON, place a check mark
next to it or set it to ON. Write the Global settings to make this permanent (please consult your manual).
I did not get a manual with my product, do you have one available to download or where can I get one?
Korg post all electronic versions of its manuals online at http://www.korg.com or http://www.korg.co.uk
If you do not find an online manual for your product then one is not available. You must contact our
PARTS department to order one http://www.korgcanada.com/KorgCanada/support.htm
My sequencer is no longer working, I push play but the song does not start?
By accident, the midi clock may have been changed to external. The Korg is simply waiting for a signal
and therefore the reason for staying paused. Go to Global mode, MIDI settings and change the midi
clock from EXT (external) to INT (internal). Save the Global settings to make this change permanent
(please consult your manual).
How do I check which operating system I have installed currently on my Korg product?
There are a couple of ways for checking the version number. Simply turn on your Korg product and look at
the screen, you should see the version number on start-up. Or, take a look at Korg Canadas download
section; there are two pdf documents to view aptly named:
Re-initialising Korg Products Doc 1

How do I know if I have to write the Global settings?
Touch screen top right corner in Global mode OR push the F8 utility button. Sometimes you need to page
up all the way to the end in Global mode. If you see WRITE global settings, then you must. If you do not
see this parameter, you dont need to do anything. The Korg will simply save the change automatically.
PEDAL TROUBLESHOOTING
My damper pedal is not working or it is working in reverse?
First thing to check is the damper pedal itself. It should have a mono (1 ring) jack. Some of our
products can do half pedaling, in which case the jack would be a stereo (2 rings) . Please consult your
manual to see if your product can do half pedaling. If your product does not have half pedaling, then
plugging the stereo jack into the damper input will not work.
Now that you have the correct pedal and it is plugged into the damper input, play the keyboard. If the
damper is working in reverse (sustaining notes when not depressed) then go to Global mode. Page over
until you see damper polarity or push the menu button and select CONTROLLER. Change the damper
polarity from Korg standard (+) to negative (-). Write the Global settings when you are done.
