A320 NON Rated SIM PREP for Pilots with BOEING Background, FO is the PF
Please Remember I am not an Airbus Pilot, just did 1 hour of Simulator Prep.

First Takeoff and Visual Circuit:
The arm rest for managing the stick must must be well adjusted, take some time in adjusting this!
Confirm FPV is set, and ask for Track to be set.
Confirm Rudder is neutralised by last candidate, need to press Neutral button only once
Ask for a distance of 3 nm around the airport to check you remain within 2,5 to 3 nm in the circuit
Ask for a bearing of 90 degrees to indicate abeam of the traffic pattern so to start your time
PF Set range on the smallest, autimaticly if TA/RA is active the ND shows a distance ring of 2 nm around the field
PF Check V2 speed and add 10 knots, memorize this speed for the inital Climb out
PF: Check level off altitude in MCP is 1600' in Abu Dhabi if flying straight into a circuit
Ask for Set up of Navaids like ILS and VOR on the field
Ask for a 10 degree Lead Radial from the VOR to aid intercepting onto LOC incase of X-Wind
Before Takeoff PF give Threats and Mitigation Briefing
PF call "Before Takeoff Checklist"
PF make PA "Cabin Crew please be seated for Takeoff" and also on each landing or next Takeoff
PF: Release brake handle by hand (not by pushing the pedals) and forward the thrust levers about one third to
set 50% by the blue little ball, once engines spool up tp 50% push Thrust levers by 2 clicks to the position called
FLX (FLX means derated TO Thrust)
on the Airbus the FO sets Thrust and takes hands off the Thrust levers, then the Captain places them on the
levers incase of RTO
Thrust lever positions: 1st position is CLB, then MCT/FLX, followed by the last which is TOGA
You can take hands off Thrust Levers exept when on approach for landing or in the circuit
Don't accidentally press the 2 red buttons on the side of the Thrust Levers, the A/T will disconnect
Actions: 100 knots, V1, V2, Pitch around 15 NPU and follow F/D, Positive Climb/Gear up, Climb V2+10
A/P can be switched on at 30' AGL after T.O. or above 500' AGL whilst enroute
When MCP mode indicates: "LVR CLB" then manually set Thrust levers 1 click back to "CL Thrust" and anounce
At symbol F on speed tape call "Flaps 1", At symbol S on speed tape call "Flaps Zero"
Clean up to Flaps Zero to give you more time/space in the circuit
Call "AFTER TO CHECKLIST"
If turning straight into the Visual Circuit At 1600', Monitor level off as it will come quickly
After FLAPs are up ask for downwind heading, PF calls "PULL HDG 310" ofcourse corrected for wind. (expect
right turn onto downwind)
"Select green dot speed" Put hands back on the throttles untill landing or Go around
PF calls "DESCENT CHECKLIST, APPROACH CHECKLIST"
Make sure you keep seeing the runway symbol on the ND, or else you are too far out from Runway
Remember applying Crosswind Corrections at all times
On downwind speed follow Green Dot Speed or below, and call right away for "MANAGE SPEEDS, SET FLAPS 1"
Abeam the threshold: Start time 45 sec +/_ 1 knot TW HW
At about 35 sec out, "FLAPS 2", when FLAPS are at 2, call for "GEAR DOWN"
Start turn to BASE and start descent at 400 fpm.
Should be 3 nnm out from the downwind, look at this when judging when to turn to Base
Judge turn to Final depending on Wind, check the lead radial and distance on ring on ND
Remember to pitch slightly below horizon by putting the fin of the FPV (they call it the Bird) just below the
horizon line to get 400 fpm decent
On Base "FLAPS 3" followed by "flaps full" and "LANDING CHECKLIST"
Judge to have completed your turn on final at 300'?n/, so at 2,5 nm around 750' AGL, 850' indicated and use
VASI or PAPI's
At 500' AGL, so 600' indicated be stabilized, or else GO AROUND.
Small inputs to the controls and put the runway touchdown point in the screen at a fixed point.
Hold the stick with 3 fingers and if a correction is needed just push or pull a tiny bit once with your thumb and
indexfinger and wait, especially closer to the ground the pitch and roll are very sensitive and it is easy to wobble
all the way down

2
Missed Approach/Go Around
PF calls "GO AROUND, RETRACT FLAPS 1 STEP"
PF SET TOGA BY PLACING THR LEVERS TO FULL (then can take hands off the thrust levers)
PM calls "POSITIVE RATE" PF says "GEAR UP"
PM monitors the GA attitude, the Thrust and MAP Track
PM calls ATC
@1000' AGL PF calls "Pull Speed 220 kts" (otherwise TOGA will accellerate)
At symbol F on speed tape call "Flaps 1"
At symbol S on speed tape call "Flaps Zero"
PF calls "AFTER TO CHECKLIST"
T-DODAR to decide next coarse of action

ILS Approach
Set up Approach, Set up VOR's and 10 degrees Lead -In Radial towards Localiser
PF calls "DESCENT CHECKLIST, APPROACH CHECKLIST"
PF gives briefing Threats and Mitigation
Green Dot speed, ask for Track mode
PF and PM Identify ILS
PM calls "Rad Alt Alive"
When receiving Radar vectors PF calls "MANAGE SPEEDS, FLAPS 1"
"COURSE ALIVE, GLIDEPATH ALIVE"
1 dot Above GlidePath "FLAPS 2" Followed by "GEAR DOWN" and "FLAPS 3" and "FLAPS FULL"
PF calls "LANDING CHECKLIST"
PM calls "1000", PF says "STABLE"
PM Calls "500", PF says "CHECK"
Keep the top of the fin of the bird (FPV) just below the horizon line as a reference on the ILS
Remember be stabilised by 1000' in IMC and in VMC!!

General
If at anytime you need to disconnect automatics:
1. Set throttles to the approximate throttle position of the current thrust output
2. Then disconnect A/T only by clicking on the 2 red buttons on the side of the thrust levers and do nothing
3. Let the Autopilot stabilize
4 Then carefully disconnect the A/P

Remember to pull the stick straight aft and not slightly diagonal, give one small input at the time and leave it.
Call all FMA modes, will be boxed for 10 sec in white
Remember Crosswind at all times, THINK WIND
Flaps S indicated when Flaps 1 selected, F after Flaps 2 selected, VAPP indicated after Flaps Full selected.

INCASE OFF ANY EMERGENCIES AFTER TAKEOFF:
At 400'AGL (at 500" Abu Dhabi)
CANCEL MASTER CAUTION
PF asks for "A/P TO COMMAND"
PF calls "I HAVE CONTROL AND RADIOS" "CONFIRM THE FAILURE"
PF calls "ECAM ACTIONS" then PM calls "ECAM ACTIONS COMPLETE"
PERFORM MEMORY ITMES (ENG SEVERE DAMAGE if any Eng Indication is "0" or None, OR ENG FAILURE)

PF: "DECLARE MAYDAY OR PAN-PAN, REQUEST CLIMB STRAIGHT AHEAD 3000' or ABOVE MSA AND STANDBY
FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS)

3
At 1000' AGL (1100' Abu Dbahi)
PF calls "NON NORMAL CHECKLIST"
Go through each ECAM Message and make sure all are delt with
PF asks to "CLEAR ALL ECAM MESSAGES"
PF calls "AFTER TAKEOFF CHECKLIST"
PF calls: "YOUR RADIOS, MY CONTROL
PF asks PM for latest WX at Possible Diversion Fields to use in DODAR

PF calls: T-DODAR (Time, Diagnose, Options, Decide, Allocate, Review)
PF calls: NITS (Nature of Emergency, Intensions, Time in the air, Specials like evacuations, FIRE etc, and have CC
repeat)
PF consider calling Operations for prefered Diversion Airfield

PM calls ATC with Intensions i.e. return to the Departure Airport or Diversion Airfield
PF calls: " YOU HAVE CONTROL, YOUR RADIOS"
PF sets up the Approach, TRANSFER CONTROLS/RADIOS back to PF, PM sets up for the Approach.
PF briefs the Approach with "Threats and Mitigations Briefing" and Emergency/Non-Normal considerations
PF calls " DESCENT CHECKLIST and APPROACH CHECKLIST "

It is good to use good CRM and utilize acronyms like a DODAR or T-DODAR and give a NITS briefings to the
cabin crew during the simulator.
Good Luck with the sim ride!
