Welcome to the School Band program! As an enrolled member of the band program,
the display of exemplary behavior is expected at all times. As a band member, not
only do you represent yourself, you also represent your ensemble, your family, The
School, the school district, and the City, Texas. Make sure that your actions adhere
to the policies below in order to maintain a welcome and inviting learning
environment. Review these with your parent/ guardian and return the signature
page to your band director by the end of the first week of school, to be kept on file.
The following plan will be established and enforced:
Upon entry to the band hall, students should efficiently retrieve and assemble
their instruments, then move to their correct seat. Talking is allowed during
this time, however students are required to use a soft indoor voice and
conversation may not distract them from preparing for class.
Students should always be prepared and willing to participate and learn.
Students should be on time to class, and should be in the seats with their
instruments and required materials five minutes after the bell rings. Student
should be ready to play at the start time of class, sectionals, rehearsals, and
private lessons.
Bring all required materials (instruments, music, band binder, warm ups,
method books, pencils, reeds and mouthpieces) to class everyday and at
their seat at the start of class.
During class, students will remain quiet during rehearsal, while the teacher is
talking, and while the teacher is on the podium unless otherwise instructed.
If students have a question or comment, they may raise their hand and wait
to be called on by the teacher.
Students should have proper respect for all faculty on campus and comply
with requests or tasks asked by any faculty member.
Students should have proper respect for other students and should make an
effort to get along with one another.
Students should have proper respect for faculty and students and refrain from
any sort of physical contact before, during, and after class.
Students should refrain from touching or playing any instrument or materials
that do not belong to them. This is especially true for percussion equipment.
Students should refrain from touching, moving, or borrowing any instruments
that do not belong to them.
Students should refrain from horseplay and/or rowdy behavior in the band
hall at all times. This includes: running, fighting, unwanted physical contact,
touching materials/ instruments that do not belong to you, mistreating
equipment in the band hall.
GOLDEN RULE: Treat others the way you want to be treated.
