1. Introduction
1. Objective
General Objective:
To develop a device that will prevent the Philippine Reticulated Python from entering Human
premises as well as agricultural livestock
Specific Objectives:
Develop multiple low frequency oscillator circuits that will propagate and diffuse in the
ground.
Create variable vibration circuits that would disrupt the sensory organ of ground
predator.
Apply forward masking technique that will penetrate the audible range of common
pythons.
Characterize the behavior of the predator depending upon the input varying audible
signal
2. Motivation
2. Background
Snake invading Residences, Agricultural farmlands and Poultry farms are incidents that are not only
happening here in the Philippines but also in other countries.
In the Philippines, out of the few hundred species of snakes, Reticulated Pythons are one of non-venomous snakes
that can be identified. Some Reticulated Pythons can be found in rural areas, especially farmlands where they can
easily prey on smaller animals and live in the moist. This also makes people in household near farmlands prone to
snake encounters and snake bites something that should not be taken lightly.
According to Sarah C. P. Williams, a reticulated python slithered into a thatched hut in the Philippines and
killed two siblings, A 4-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy. The father save the third child of their family when he
returned to the hut and killed the snake with a bolo knife. The incident happen at sunset on March 13, 1973.
In Butuan City, the Agusan National High School has tuned-over a 3.9-meter reticulated python that have
been taken care by the school management for almost 8 years to the Department of Environment and Natural
Resources. The snake was small when we found it struggling on a vacant lot, Ernestor Falcon of Agusan National
High School said. The article was made by Mike Crismundo on February 23, 2015.
Snakes leaving their territory due to climate change, lack of food source and the destruction of their natural
habitat leads them to take refuge in Residential and Agricultural areas. This cause human encountering snakes a
common occurrence that leads to accident or death on either party. Here in the Philippines, though we have laws that
protect wildlife resources such as WILDLIFE RESOURCES CONSERVATION AND PROTECTION ACT (Republic
Act 9147), it is not strictly implemented unlike in other countries resulting to snakes being killed rather than protected.
Thus, it is necessary to develop a device that will prevent the snakes from invading Residences, Agricultural
farmlands and Poultry farms. The device will protect humans and snakes from each other.
