FORTY DAYS VOYAGE OF PIETY AND TAZKIYA E NAFS (PURIFICATION OF SOUL)

Hazrat Muhammad (SAWAW) said Whoever devotes them to Allah for forty days, the springs of
wisdom break forth from their hearts and flow from their tongues.

The object of this schedule is to encourage the believers to devote themselves to Allah for forty
days and to encourage them in getting spiritual pleasure and satisfaction.

Offer one Qadha prayer with the Wajib prayer and in that case put two tick marks under the
prayer it will indicate that you offered one Wajib prayer and one Qadha prayer.

Recite 100 times Astaghfurillah hae Rabi Wa Atubu Ilah every night before sleeping and
remember your sins. Try to shed two or three tears while reciting this every day and while
remembering your sins.

Observe fast least three days in a month. On Thursday in the first ten days of Islamic month, on
Wednesday on the second ten days of Islamic month and on Thursday in the last ten days of
Islamic month. As Imam Ali a.s has reported to have said that Whoever observes fasts on three
days of a month i.e on first and last Thursday and on Wednesday in the mid ten days will get the
reward of fasts of the whole month.

Recite Dua e Kumayl, Dua e Tawassul and Hadith e Kissa on the Thursday night without any
interruption.

Listen Nohas/Marsiyas and shed your tears on the tragedy of Karbala. This will strengthen your
faith and purify your heart.

In Self Accountability spaces write what Haram acts you did and you will try to abstain from
them in the subsequent days. Imam Musa Kazim a.s has said that He is not amongst us who
does not make his nafs accountable each night when he goes to sleep. Avoid watching films,
dramas, non mehram women and songs for you smooth continuous spiritual voyage.

Here's one for 40 days straight. Let's start reading Dua' Ahad right after Fajr for forty days straight
starting from Ashura of this Muharram and ending on the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain (as). Really
relevant for this day and age.
