the team members. Project managers on the other hand act as leaders who execute the project
plan to achieve its objectives. They set the direction of the team, coordinate the activities, and
motivate the team members as well as assigning jobs and tasks. A teacher in a classroom who
just organizes students into groups and supervises them as they discuss is an example of a project
manager.
Scrum master responds to updates and changes in a plan within the team during a project to
ensure the achievement of the best outcome. A football coach closely follows any changes or
updates that might happen and informs the team for proper planning. The project manager keeps
the project on track by checking the progress, figuring out reasons for deviation from the plan
and applying corrective measures by proper strategizing. A teacher checks the progress of the
groups as they discuss and guides any group that goes wrong.
Scrum masters ensure that the team focuses and works towards value increment of a projects
value in every sprint rather than mere completion. The scrum master and the team ensures that it
is of shippable quality. A scrum master in a cooking crew points out any unusual thing during the
cooking processes and also holds a discussion after the whole process where they focus on what
to do in the next session to increase value. Project managers, on the other hand, draw the plan to
be followed including the procedures to be undertaken in completing the project. They focus on
the completion of the project more than on the quality. A manager in dairy farm only focuses on
drawing a schedule that is to be followed by workers in the farm like feeding cows and milking
work together with the chefs in ensuring that a meal. Unusual things are pointed out, they work
together as a team and they hold discussions later after a cooking session on how to improve on
the products and the issues to avoid. Software product development can be treated differently
from non-software development products because of the quality of the end product. Software
adaptive planning, continuous improvement as well as reliability in terms of time since they are
in specific periods. The enhancing of different mindsets and thinking capabilities also makes the
product development is mostly about the number of products while software product
development is of quality.
