I.

PURPOSE OF THE ACTIVITY

The purpose of this activity is to perform a road inventory survey

along Magsaysay Avenue which will be used for capacity and LOS
analysis.

II. DESCRIPTION OF THE SURVEY AREA

A. Location

The area that the group covered for this activity is from Emilio
Jacinto st. Magsaysay Avenue intersection up to Ylanan st.
Magsaysay Avenue intersection.

B. Date and Time of Survey

The road inventory survey was conducted last July 20, 2009
(Monday) at around 9:00 11:30 in the morning.

C. Weather

The first part of the survey is rainy and after some time, the weather
became fair.

III. Method of Data Collection

Surveyors walked along link and located objects or points by

chainage (measuring tape). Basic information for planning purposes like
location of traffic signs, and distances of utility lines from the road are
obtained. Thus, measurements of turning radii and turning restrictions in
intersections are not included. In addition, road condition and road
markings were also noted as added information.

A. Physical Characteristics

Geometrics

Pavement Structure
Asphalt was used for the road, while concrete was for the
sidewalks. Although some parts of the area are poorly paved and
have no sidewalks (after the Emilio Jacinto Magsaysay Avenue
Intersection), the other parts of the area were ok.

Traffic Control Devices

Road signs were visible in the said area. Also, there were
temporary road signs placed on specific areas. No traffic signal was
present in our area. There were areas that have poor pavement
markings, even the center line were gone. There were traffic signs
that were placed in the Meralco post and some of it was too high for
the motorists to see.

Sidewalks
As said earlier, the area after the Emilio Jacinto st. Magsaysay
Avenue intersection features one side that has no sidewalk. On the
other parts of the study area, provisions for the disabled were
present in the sidewalks. We also noticed that some road signs
were placed in the sidewalk.

Adjacent Land Use

The land use of our study area was mainly for school use
(institutions) only.
Service Provisions
Manholes, pipes, concrete and wooden posts (for electricity and
telephone lines) were present at the study area. These service
provisions post no threat to the vehicles as well as the pedestrians.
