We wouldnt have the technology we have today if it wasnt for NASA. During the Space
race, new technology was invented such as TVs and satellites. It was all needed to
technology in the 1960s (Mead). From the space race to the present, much of our technology
has evolved and it was all due to NASA which brings me this. The United States should
continue to fund NASA and see through the end of the program because it would provide
jobs to the jobless, it would give us knowledge about space, and it would benefit us in the
long run.
The United States should continue to fund NASA because it will provide new jobs to the
people. Recently, president Obama has decided to extended the space program up to the year
2020. What this means is that there will be more jobs at the Kennedy Space Center as we
rebuild our entire space program," said Nelson (Achenbach). "Now, with 10-year extended life
on the station, we process those payloads at KSC, we have the commercial rockets take both
humans and cargo to the station" (Achenbach). This will give an opportunity to the people of the
People with Degrees in science would be graduating and soon would be looking for jobs/careers.
This graph shows the current rate of the employment in the United States. As NASA prepares to
start hiring new astronauts next month, he figures his successors will face a different kind of
challenge(SIRIS). The space agency wants to send astronauts into space for longer and longer
stretches, farther and farther from help - to an asteroid and, eventually, to Mars. NASA will hire
new astronauts but it can be dangerous considering they will be traveling to deep space.
Ensuring the stability and availability of the ISS through 2024 will instill confidence in
the science community that the ISS platform will be available for important, long-term research
endeavors(SIRIS). This gives NASA a reason to start hiring people who have their degree in
science to be employed.

Another reason to why the United States should continue to fund NASA and see through
the end of the program is it would give us knowledge about space. Throughout the years, NASA
has sent satellites in the void of space. A particular 2001 satellite that cost about $150 million --
NASA's Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe -- has generated more than three times as many
papers; many scientists used the probe's analysis of temperature differences in space to theorize
about the origin and structure of the universe (Achenbach). At the expense of the satellite, it
gives us closer understanding to how the universe was originated and how long it was ago it
took place.
However not all research is gathered from a satellite. Some of the research has be
conducted on a space station known as the ISS. The findings of this studies in the space station,
helped NASA establish a baseline for monitoring the cleanliness of the space station, which will
in turn help manage astronaut health in the future (SIRS). Yet, with this particular type of DNA
analysis, researchers could not conclude whether these bacteria are harmful to astronaut health.
Throughout time, NASA will establish a monitoring of of the cleanliness in space stations so
Another benefit would be to study the potential dangers in space. Studying the microbial
community on the space station helps us better understand the bacteria present there, so that we
can identify species that could potentially damage equipment or pose harms to astronaut health.
With this(SIRS), It would be easier to have humans on board without any harm or damage to
equipment.
My last reason to why the United States should continue to fund NASA is it will benefit
the people of the United States in the long run. Technology has played an important role
throughout society. You would be surprised to know that station research has resulted in devices

that can help control asthma and sensor systems that significantly improve our ability to monitor
the Earth and respond to natural hazards and catastrophes, among many other discoveries"
(SIRIS). Throughout the research conducted in a space station, they have created devices that
improved the ability to monitor the earth and respond to dangerous hazards.
Technology will continue to be play a crucial role throughout our time. Experimental
demonstration of new technologies, as well as the interaction between astronauts and younger
generations on Earth for educational activities are invaluable benefits from the permanent human
space laboratory in low-Earth orbit(SIRIS). Each generation would have more advance
technology, more advanced than the previous. As well as new astronauts who will learn new
Technology from NASA has also benefited the sick. "The Canadian robotics system that
helped build and now operates on the International Space Station has led to tools that give
doctors new ways to detect cancer, operate on sick children, and perform neurosurgery on
patients once considered to be inoperable (SRIS). The tools built to make the space laboratory
helped give doctors new ways to detect sickness such as cancer or operate on sick children or
NASA has brought people throughout the world closer. In a partnership between five
member space agencies representing 15 countries, it advances a unified goal to utilize the
orbiting laboratory for the betterment of humanity. Cooperation between 5 space agencies that
represent over 15 countries shows a unified goal to have a laboratory to benefit humanity
(SIRIS). By doing this signifies the unity humanity has evolved due to NASA and the goals set to
be achieve together.

Since NASA program has been extended, It will allow NASA to complete necessary
research activities aboard the ISS in support of planned long-duration human missions beyond
low-Earth orbit, including NASA's planned human mission to an asteroid by 2025 and to Mars in
the 2030s, they said. Since this will be established, it will allow NASA plan the first human
missions to an asteroid and to Mars by the end of 2030. You have to cite even there it's their idea
Many sources, however, argue that NASA is a waste of money. This source says
The space station costs NASA $1.5 billion to $2 billion a year to build and run, leaving
less money for the official goal of landing on the moon by 2020. "But it doesn't make any
sense to spend tens of billions of dollars to build the station and then say, all right, we've
built it, let's shut the door and walk away from it (Achenbach). They have set up the
station but lack the finds to fully use it to its potential. However even with some
potential, It can bring some useful information to the United States, such as equipment or
NASA has been planning this for quite some time. After more than 12 years and at
least $100 billion in construction costs, NASA leaders say the International Space Station
finally is ready to bloom into the robust orbiting laboratory that agency leaders
envisioned more than two decades ago (Achenbach). Yet with billions spent on
Another source reveals how they are rushed into completing tasks before theyre
funds run out. "The whole attitude and focus of the program has shifted in the last year,"
Edeen said. "We are increasing utilization as fast as we can"(SIRS). Realizing they are a
timescale to complete setting up, NASA would require an amount of resources needed to

complete the task. Nonetheless, NASA would have it done and start conducting research
to help humanity.
The United States should continue to fund NASA and see through the end of the program
because it would provide jobs to the jobless, it would give us knowledge about space, and it
would benefit us in the long run. In the past, NASA has invented technology to help man get to
the moon. Today that technology has still been benefiting us from entertainment to beneficial. In
the future, who knows how NASA will benefit us but it will be beneficial nonetheless.
