The main subjects in the artwork I see are the heart, crown, and flowers. c) Looking at the elements of design, describe what qualities you see? Line, Shape, Color, Value, Form, Texture, Space The elements I see in this work of art are curved and straight lines in the heart, crown, and flowers. I also see different shapes in the heart, crown, and flowers. I see the colors red, pink, purple, yellow, black and white. I see visual texture in the collage of book pages and space of the overlapping images such as the flowers overlapping the heart. d) What media and techniques did the artist use? The artist used pencil, tracing paper, drawing paper, sharpies, book pages, and glue. 2) Analysis: Analysis means you look for relationships. The dominant element or focal point I see first is the bright red large heart in the middle of the page. b) Balance: Is there a special balance, or weight, among the elements? What mood does it create? I see an asymmetrical balance because there is not an equal weight of the positioning of the flowers; however the shape of the heart shows some symmetrically balance. c) Proportion: Do the proportions look normal, Ideal or unusual? Why? I think the artists proportions of her objects are correct, because the heart is evenly shaped. d) Pattern: Are elements repeated to create a pattern? Where? Why? I see a repetition in ripped up book pages, repeating lines, and repeating shapes of flowers. e) Rhythm or Movement. What visual rhythms or paths of movement do your eyes follow? Where? Why? I see movement in the artwork, because of the book pages collage laid out in different directions all over the page. I also see movement in the curved lines f) Unity and variety: What elements bring together, or unify, many parts of the design? Why? What elements add variety? Why? I think the multiple flowers bring unity to the artwork, but there is a variety of objects drawn, such as a heart, crown, and different color flowers. 3) Interpretation: Use the information you have gathered to tell what the work means to you. Use analogies and language with adjectives and adverbs. Example: The lively, angular shapes seem to be dancing. I would say this artwork is in a style similar to symbolism. c) How unique is the work? Why do you feel this work is or isnt unique? I think the work is unique, but Ive seen objects drawn like this before. d) What are some improvements you feel the artist could have made to the work? I would improve the shape and position of the crown in this artwork.
