Issues in Education Technology

I choose the article Top Ten Issues Shaping Todays Technology Uses in Education.

There one issue that is pointed out is funding for educational technology. Specifically, this issue

because funding is one of the most important parts of getting technology into the hands of our

students. Without funding for tech there arent devices available; with the right types of

sponsorship, a school system would be able to issue each student from third to twelfth grade a

personal laptop to use during the school year. Funding is a large problem no matter what is being

sponsored. On one side, there will always be those who do not want to fund anything; despite

what is needed to function properly (schools who dont have enough money and limit teachers to

the amount of paper they use during the year for copies). On the other hand, there will be those

people who will expect that everyone should throw money at issue. Technology funding is no

different because it can be very expensive to fund a school systems technology department.

Tech isnt just laptops and iPads; it also includes everything from the programs for the different

devices in the school to the use of SMART boards in so many classrooms. Technology is

necessary to fund for school systems because the various technologies can help cater a students

education to fit their needs. In the article Mixed Methods Evaluation of Statewide

Implementation of Mathematics Education Technology for K-12 Students, the authors point out

how technology can help different students by saying offering for example, while learning math

using a personalized instructional system, different math quizzes and contents are delivered to

different students based on their present levels of understanding and mastery of a particular math

lesson. Consequently, these education technology systems can support mathematics teachers in

effectively meeting the needs of all students (Braisel, Martin, Jeong, Yuan & Society for

Research on Educational Effectiveness). The ability to have each student a personalized quiz or

content that can be delivered electronically will help reach every child in a classroom, wherein

current classrooms teachers just hope to reach the majority. Though to have that type of

technology available to every school in every state, there needs to be funding. If the federal and

state governments are going to make it mandatory that as educators we implement technology in

our classes, there needs to be funding; though it is difficult to imagine this when it is hard to get

enough funding for the paper.

Footnotes

[Add footnotes, if any, on their own page following references. For APA formatting

requirements, its easy to just type your own footnote references and notes. To format a footnote

reference, select the number and then, on the Home tab, in the Styles gallery, click Footnote

Reference. The body of a footnote, such as this example, uses the Normal text style. (Note: If

you delete this sample footnote, dont forget to delete its in-text reference as well. Thats at the

end of the sample Heading 2 paragraph on the first page of body content in this template.)]

shown on this page. All explanatory text appears in a table note that follows the table, such as

this one. Use the Table/Figure style, available on the Home tab, in the Styles gallery, to get the

spacing between table and note. Tables in APA format can use single or 1.5 line spacing.

Include a heading for every row and column, even if the content seems obvious. A default table
