This artefact is an
assessment rubric
created to monitor
student achievement
within lessons. It is
used as diagnostic,
formative and
summative assessment
in a variety of sections
of the lesson.
Describe the artefact / document and indicate the
possible impact or result on teaching and/ or student
learning
Using this artefact, students are selected as
a focus and notes are jotted down during the
lesson against criteria. This artefact was
utilised as a summative assessment for
spelling test results. The students all
undertook the test however, five students
were selected for assessment purposes and
notes were jotted down according to their
learning. These notes consist of feedback
given to students and any support they may
receive or need during this lesson or future
lessons such as needing more assistance.
The fundamental purpose of reporting is the
enhancement of student learning (Brady &
Kennedy, 2012).

This assessment rubric is an
assessment of student learning. It
is an informal summative
approach to assess student
achievement against criteria of a
spelling test [APST 5.1].
This artefact is applied against
the assessment criteria of the
spelling test. From here students
are assessed against the learning
intentions and criteria to then
modify learning activities to best
suit each student [APST 5.3].
The assessment rubric can be
utilised as it contains assessment
data of student learning. Using
the rubric, student learning is
evaluated and modified according
to student needs [APST 5.4].
