Rodeo is a time honored, 50-year tradition in Auburn.

T he Gold Country Pro Rodeo celebration kicks

off at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Auburn Chrysler
Dodge Jeep Ram with a dummy roping contest, food
and fun.
Friday is the official Pre-Party at 6:30 p.m. at the
Auburn Alehouse.
The rodeo runs two days, both Saturday and Sunday,
rain or shine. Enjoy pro bull riding, bronc riding,
and team roping, to name just a few of the highlights
of the rodeo program. New this year is the kids zone.
The Second Annual Rodeo Street Party is Saturday
night on the streets of Old Town Auburn features
country artists Madison Hudson and Branded. The
party is sponsored by Finance of America Mortgage,

Can I purchase tickets at the arena?
Yes. If the event is not sold out, the arena box office
will open beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Tickets at the box office are:
$26 adults (13 and over) for preferred covered seating
$21 kids for preferred covered seating
$21 adults (13 and over) general admission
$16 kids general admission (Ages 4-12)
kids 3 and under are free.
No refunds. Rodeo goes on rain or shine!
Does my 3-year-old need a ticket?
No. Kids 3 and under do not need a ticket.
But be aware, according to fire marshal regulations,
no strollers are allowed in the arena.
What should I bring to the rodeo?
A blanket to sit on (the bleachers can be hot/cold)

When should I get to the arena?
The rodeo gates open two hours before the rodeo
starts. Thats 2 p.m. on Saturday and noon on
Sunday. (Earlier for special kids) Come early to get
a good seat and eat some good grub. There are a
variety of dining choices.
Where is the Gold Country Pro Rodeo?
The event is being held at McCann Stadium in the
Gold Country Fairgrounds.
Enter at 209 Fairgate Road in Auburn.
Is there parking available?
Parking entrance is at 209 Fairgate Road. The rodeo
is held at the McCann Stadium at the Gold Country
Fair. Parking is $8-$10 per a vehicle.
Where can I see live music?
Friday, April 28 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Auburn

Professional Bull Jumping

The Sport
Bull jumping is a sport directly linked to a Southwestern French
tradition called Course Landaise. It refers to the Landes department
of France where the sport is mainly practiced. This tradition asks men
and women, without any protection, to enter an arena with a Mexican
bull. As the beast begins his full on attack, the skilled jumper, leaps and
flips majestically over the beast. Bull jumping mixes Course Landaises
fundamentals with spectacular aerial movements.

The Livestock
The livestock originally used for bull jumping was a Spanish breed for
Corrida called Toro Bravo. In North America, we call them Mexican bulls.
The only restriction on the bull is that its horn tips are covered or cut.
Ideally four-year-old bulls (around 500kg) or five-year-old cows (300kg)
are placed inside the arena. In both cases, they are only used once in their
life. In a five-minute performance, five to eight movements are performed
over the bull.

The Athlete
Emmanuel Lataste Manu was born Dec. 1, 1985 in Dax, France. He is
57 and weighs 140 pounds.
Manu started jumping at the age of 14 and turned pro in 2000. Manus
average height per a jump is 5.9 and he averages 20 jumps a night.

Kent Lane started skydiving
in 1976 and has about 8,000
jumps both in competition and
exhibition. Kent competed on
the national and world level
winning several gold medals
and overall champion cups
in U.S. Precision Freefall
Championships. Two time world
champion competing on the U.S.
team. Held three world records
performed in several high-profile
events such as the Olympics
in the U.S. and Seoul, Korea.
He has competed all over the
world including China, Soviet
Union (Russia), South Africa,
Yugoslavia ... coached Special
Forces in Taiwan. Participated
in the recent world record of 400
skydivers in one formation in
Thailand. He also pilots his own
airplane for other skydiving
teams such as the Los Angeles
Sheriffs, Redbull Airforce, and
Navy Seals. He also flies his own
1941 WWII fabric wing open
cockpit biplane.

Mutton Busin
For a child to be eligible to enter, the child must be
no less than four years of age, no more than seven
years of age and may not weigh more than 60 pounds
as of April 29.
Mammas if you dont want your babies to grow up
to be cowboys, you best keep them away from the
mutton bustin. Sure, it looks innocent enough, but
does anybody really know how many cowboys got
their first real taste of rodeo riding from sheep?
Thirty young cowboy and cowgirls wannabes will
get their chance in the arena as they mount their
trusty sheep and head for the thrill of their young
lives. A championship buckle will be awarded to
the child that rides the longest.
This is a limited entry event.
