Accommodation Hyde is a 4 year old who was diagnosed with obsessive

overwhelmed to complete the activity, he will be
permitted to create one rule for the list of classroom
rules independently.
Hyde has a visual schedule of the daily events that
allows him to know and prepare for what is coming
next. This seems to reduce some of his anxiety.

Procedures
RATIONALE for This is an introductory lesson, however if the students CK

Introduction Activating Prior Knowledge


A simple discussion will lead the lesson. The students
will be sitting at the rug and will be asked if they follow
rules at home. If so, what are some of the rules they
have to follow at home?

The book, Pinkalicious: School Rules will be read to
introduce school rules.

As a class, the kindergarten class will construct a list of
five classroom rules.

The students will be called down to the rug for circle
time one by one by sharing their favorite color.

Procedure The open discussion about their knowledge about rules
at home will stand as a pre-assessment.
Modeling of the Concept
When the students are creating their list of rules as a
class, the first rule will be used as an example. The first
rule will be Everyone will be treated equally. Of course,
the students wont be able to read what is written down
so the rule will have to be verbally and thoroughly
explained.
When the drawing activity is introduced, a teacher made
example of the first rule will be shown.
Guiding the Practice
While the students are constructing their list of 5 rules
for the classroom to follow, I will be guiding the
discussion towards age appropriate rules that are
positive. (the rules wont be allowed to say dont)
During the drawing activity, I will circulate the room
prompting the students who are struggling and asking
questions to promote discussions.
Providing the Independent Practice
After the list of 5 classroom rules is constructed, the
students will independently draw a picture that depicts
their favorite rule.
Transition
The students will be told to return back to their assigned
table based on the table colors. (red, blue, and yellow)

their own, a second discussion will occur to strengthen
their understanding and the activity will be attempted
