Day 1:
Show presentation on Frida Kahlo. Discuss her life and her art and discuss why she created
self-portraits. Review what a self-portrait is and why we as artists should make them. Ask the
students what is important to you? Toss the ball to the students for them to answer.

Discuss what is important to each student (hobbies, events, people, objects).

Practice making self-portraits. Give each student a mirror, pencil, and paper and go through the steps

Day 2:

Review the life and art of Frida Kahlo. Go over her life events, art, and self-portraiture. Review the

to reference the shape of their face and features. Each student will create their self portrait on 11x14
