 PREFACE

My versions of poems centering in and around

trusting Jesus are written in hopes of encouraging others
of how I have experienced being a Christian. As you
grow older may you learn what level I was on at this
time. May this work be able to reach all age groups.
Some may go into symbolism to bring about a special
effect. May Jesus bless you as you go through each
poem.

Some of my background has been in the Burke County

School System. I attended mostly Baptist churches. I
wanted to know how to pray at about age three. I was
baptized in 1975.

Everything I do, good may the glory go to Jesus. A lot of

people told me to try to write a book. Here are some of
my efforts at this time.

This book is dedicated to my Jesus, and because of all

my mother taught me about Jesus, to her also.

Alone, In The Dark, I Pray

Alone, in the dark, I pray.

I am lost, but I pray.

Faith, hope, love, please seem real.

Time has passed, time be still.

If God's will; time to pray.

Once there were words, I know.

Jesus, the way He will show.

The words seem to be blurred.

I remember the words!

Saved again; there's that glow.

Being In Church Is

Time is going to run out.

There is a limit; no doubt.
Being in church is:
A safe place to be.
That is if you are saved,
And from sin you are free.

The doors are closing;

Won't you come in?
Every day is closer;
To the end.
And it will come.

The doors are closing;

It is a little bit closer;
Won't you come in?

Jesus can make you happy.

Give you a reason to live.
All of this time for,
You to think it over.

Do you want to be saved?

I Don't Mind Being Poor

I used to worry,

About what to wear

But I have Jesus

Now I don't care.

I may wear the same thing,

Two Sundays in a row.

For I have found Jesus.

I don't mind being poor.

When you find Jesus;

You won't mind being poor.

I'm Going To See Jesus

Don't you know a lot of people,

Don't you believe in Him?

Don't you know they could care?

All of their burdens they bear.

A day of surprise is on the way!

Because I'm going to see Jesus someday

I'm going to stand by His side,

When He takes the church as His Bride.

I'm going to see Jesus someday.

My burdens I did not hide.

I know Jesus is real.

To be saved is a thrill.

If you were on trial,

Would Jesus say, "Guilty of denial?"

I Will March On

Because He is ahead,

I will march on.

Because Jesus is not dead,

I can sing this song.

Because Jesus is not dead.

Because He sets on His throne.

Because I am saved.

Because I am going home.

That is why: I can sing this song.

Some say He is dead.

That has to be a lie.

The Bible says He lives!

The Bible is why,

I can sing this song!

Because He is ahead,

Jesus, Build A Fence Around My Soul

Jesus always save my soul, and to protect it,

Jesus, build a fence around my soul.

Protect it from wrong, while I grow old.

Let us put it in this song. Let us keep

Our faith strong.

Jesus, build a fence around my soul.

Protect us from those who treat us cold.

May we try to spread the light,

Help us with your might.

Keep us in the right.

Jesus Take Care Of Me

Though some may laugh,

And prosecute me,

Jesus will take care of me.

Some may try to mislead me.

They shall try to tear my faith down.

People will try to mar your new thrill.

They will try to destroy your power of will.

So they try to make you look like a clown.

Jesus take care of us!

Yes, Jesus said, He would help us.

He Gave Us His All!

Jesus has given so much to us.

We may not realize some things at all.

Jesus gave His life for us.He told us of His law.

And what else should be told,

To people both large and small,

To people both young and old?

He also gave his birthday to all.

A birthday is a happy time,

Once to be there once a year.

Then Jesus shared His happy time,

So that we could have two a year.

Jesus gave us His life one day.

He gave us His Law.

He gave us His birthday.

He gave us His all.

He Is Not Dead

Where have they hid Him?

Where have they hid Him?

Where have they hid our Lord?

They haven't hid Him!

He is not dead.

Where is He now, tell me,

He is by His Father's Throne.

Yes, you heard right.

That is where He has gone.

He Is So Wonderful

Jesus is wonderful,

Yes, He is wonderful,

He is so wonderful.

Read John 3:16.

Know He is the King.

Here is something to help you.

It is in the book of Matthew.

Matthew 20:18 and 19.

Know he is the King.

He can take your soul,

He can take my soul,

Yes He can take us,

and make us whole.

He can take out the mean,

and make us clean,

Jesus is wonderful.

Yes, He is wonderful,

He is so wonderful.

Ode To A Small College
Some go to a small college.

People from different walks of life,

Come to you for knowledge.

For some it is easy, some have to strive.

There are different grades on the list.

Some have passed, some have missed.

You are still just a small school.

Where people come to drink,

From your fountain of knowledge.

But all that come and stay awhile,

Should leave wiser.

To many your fountain is,

Like a geyser.

But those who come,

And later learn,

Of Jesus Christ,

Learn their lesson well.

They may learn math,

Or, they may study a creature.

Pray they will learn,

Jesus is the best teacher.

Ode To A Swimming Pool

Swimming pool, swimming pool;

You are cool.

You make my friends happy;

My relatives too.

Your water is clean;

And a pretty shade of blue.

Although you belong to the city;

You belong to the swimmers too.

Would it not be a nice realism,

If sometime in your water so blue,

If a great worth were asked of you?

That a service were held for baptism;

In your water so cool.

Save Your Soul

You may be young.

You may be old.

If God is speaking,

Get up and go.

Jesus may come today.

Jesus may come tonight.

Now may be your only chance,

To get up and do what is right.

Get up and go,

Save your soul.

Before the devil leaves,

With your soul!

Soon All Of God's Children Will Have A Bomb

Well the way things are going to be will be.

Things will fall in place the way they should.

We have a bomb they have bomb.

Soon all God's children will have a bomb.

Have faith today.

Don't let faith fade away.

Slowly but surely,

Worries will pass away.

We have a bomb, they will have a bomb.

Soon all God's children, will have a bomb.

So Christmas Is Near

So Christmas is near,

And some shall fear,

The day which is dear,

Will that day be clear?

Some want it to snow,

And the wind to blow.

But if it does snow,

Traffic will be slow.

Lets make this our prayer,

Lets praise His birth.

And His reason on Earth.

Our Faith let us share.

Show others we care.

Skyward Limbs Reach For Heaven

What do I see in a tree?

It is not like you and me.

In vain it trys for Heaven.

Skyward limbs reach for Heaven.

It is not like you and me.

We can reach Heaven through Christ.

We have to watch Satans heist.

Santas power can be bad.

Pray to be saved and glad.

Unlike the tree we have Christ.

Roots of a tree hold it down.

It cant reach Heavens high ground.

In vain it trys for Heaven.

Skyward limbs reach for Heaven.

Pray that we will wear a crown.

Some Say He Has Gone

Some say He has gone.

But he does live on!

He can walk on the world within you and me.

We can share His love.

Bring peace like a dove.

We can give those that are lost a shove.

When the devil appears on the scene,

Just remember 1 John 5:12-13.

It was written for you and me.

It can help us you see.

He still walks this world with you and me.

If anyone wonders why,

Just say 1 John 5:12-13.

He can make the scene,

He can help us sing,

He is not gone, this is not wrong,

It is written in this song.

There Is A Brick Wall Between Us

I ask you if we can discuss Jesus, day after day.

You say, Only one thing to say,

There is a brick wall between us.

I ask you to go to church, day after day.

But you say, No, I dont believe in Jesus.

I say but we are good friends,

Equal ideas we share.

You say, Yes, but not on the subject of Jesus.

Then we both did pass away.

I came to Heaven in the sky.

You went to a burning grave.

You shout, Get me out.

Remember our friendship between us!

And I say there is a brick wall between us.

The Kings Birthday

It will not be long till Christmas.

Lets hope no one will be sad, that day.

Someday the Worlds people, young and old,

Will understand Christmas it will be told,

The story of our Saviors birth: flow in the sky.

Why He came and loved and for us He did die.

Let us not forget the birthday of our King.

To some it is just a day off or so it may seem.

Let us give thanks for the birth of our King.

Shall we tail of the glory.

Shall we tell of the joy.

Shall we sing of this thing.

The birthday of our King!

 Tender Togetherness*

Male: You told your mother:

For me there can no other.
When I leave in my pickup,
I want to know, I will be missed.

Female: You can tell by the way we kissed.

And you know, only you are on
My love list.
And from the day I met you,
I knew nothing but bliss.

Male: When, can we be free,

To live tenderly?

Female: As soon as I can be,

All that you ask of me.

Male: We can find more bliss,

With more tender togetherness.

Male: And I know, I will be missed.

Female: You can tell by the way we kissed.

And you know, you are the only one
On my love list.

Both: And sometime a sweet surprise,

Our Jesus will appear in the skies.
And, we will be in everlasting bliss.

*This may be good at weddings.

 Which Are You?

Some lust and greed for money,

Some dont lust at all.

Some keep their milk and honey,

Others share will all.

Some secure their treasures this side of Heaven.

Some share what they can.

Some dont care about the world tomorrow,

Some wait for a better land.

Which are you?

Yes, which are you?

Do you care: Do you know where are you going?

All it takes,

Is child-like faith,

Like a mustard seed so small.

Praying for each other;

Praying for all.

Praying for all!

 Willow Tree Why Weep?

Will tree, why week, whos to blame?

Mankind you say, and all their shame?

Your limbs hang downward toward the ground.

So sad you seem; limbs, hanging down.

You do not know why the King came?

Oh, Willow tree so sad you seem.

Your color is a sad pale green.

Only wished you could understand.

Plant a dogwood, near, where you stand.

Dogwood can tell; King forgives shame.

People is something in your eye?

Could be a tear you say, and why?

Could be the King has touched your heart.

Takes blame for shame, gives you new start.

Pray he will come; take us to sky.

 When You Say You Are Saved

When you say you are saved,

People begin to wonder.

When your public commitment is made,

People will try to catch you in a blunder.

In the future Jesus shall return.

It will be as quick as thunder.

Unsaved people will have their turn.

When you say you are saved,

It is an important thing.

When you say you are saved,

You belong to the King of Kings.

You can not make all understand,

They will not try to know why,

You keep talking of our King in the sky.

You will make it to Heaven in the sky.

You Know There Is A Heaven In the Sky

You know there is a Heaven in the sky.

Some dont believe, but, I do not know why.

Jesus died for you, and He died for me.

Proof of His Power is in the dogwood tree.

I know there is a Heaven in the sky.

The word of His return is in the Book.

Why dont you sit down, and take another look?

He is coming back to lift us above.

He will save those who gave their time and love.

Yes, Word of His return is in the book.

Now if you read The Holy Bible,

The truth will be plain, for it is liable.

You will wish to join in this song, oh yes!

You will know how to be saved, and not guess.

Now go read, please, in The Holy Bible!

 I Believe In Life

I believe in Jesus.

I believe in life.

I believe in Jesus.

Giving me eternal life.

And I know as I live,

I am growing old.

And my body may,

Be laid to rest.

All of this I know.

But, so what if my body,

Grows old and weary!

My spirit will live on.

Yes, my spirit will live on.

Because Jesus said so.

I believe in Jesus.

I believe in life.

I believe in Jesus.

Giving me eternal life.
