ABSTRACT

Background: Malocclusion index is used to determine the requirement level of ortodonthic

treatment in a population. PAR index and occlusal index is an example of malocclusion

index that has been generated. PAR index is used to determine the severity level of

malocclusion and sorted by the severity. Occlusal index is a systematic gauges used in

epidemiology and public health to measure the relationship of teeth and dental arch.

Objective: to determine the differences on measurment of malocclusion index (PAR index

and Occlusal Index) towards the requirment level of orthodontic treatment in the Javas

population of FKG UHT Student class of 2013-2015 in 2016. Methods: the sample was

using 26 different study models, and the measurement with PAR index and occlusal index on

each model study to determine the requirement level of orthodonthic treatment. The obtained

data were analyzide using non parametric Wilcoxon test. Results: 69,2 percent of samples

had same requirement level of orthodontic treatment for both index, while 30.7 percent of the

samples had different requirement level of orthodontic treatment for both samples.

Conclusions: tehre are singnificant differences in the measurements between the Peer

Assesment Rating (PAR) index and Occlusal Index towards the requirment level of

orthodonthic treatment in the Javas population of FKG UHT Students class of 2013-2015 in

2016
