0 Lean Canvas
Lean Canvas is introduced by Ash Maurya in the book Running Lean: Iterate from
Plan A to a Plan That Works. It is a single page business model, derived from Alex
Osterwalders Business Model Canvas, and incorporating Lean Startup principles.
Main objective with Lean Canvas is to make it as actionable as possible while
staying entrepreneur-focused. The canvas contains sections for the key
information required to make a go/no-go decision on starting up a new venture.
Lean canvas target is for Start-up businesses purely bucan be used for NPD
assessment. The focus lean canvas is for entrepreneurs primarily and also for
stakeholders and investors secondary. For lean canvas customer element they
does not lay much emphasis on customer segments because startups have no
known or tested products to sell. The approach of lean canvas is it begins with
the problem, a proposed solution, the channels to achieving the solution, costs
involved and the anticipated revenue streams. Lean canvas element of
competition it assesses whether the business has an unfair advantage over the
rest and how to capitalize on it for better grounding. The lean canvas application
element is on a simple problem-solution oriented approach which enables the
entrepreneur to develop step-by-step.
4.1.1 Problem
For Roti Abduls, this company have faced 3 problem or issue related to their
business performance. The problem that Roti Abduls has facing which is related
with their internal organization, the first problem is Roti Abduls bakery design on
product packaging?, secondly is problem with marketing part whereas the
promotion of the company has do before this is not unpractically with the
environment. And thirdly is lacking on skilled of workers related with production
of bakery. Roti Abduls workers not have any qualification related with bakery
processing and production, beside that the workers dont have any additional
skill on behaviour intention to perform their duties.
4.1.4 Solutions
The analysis have been due on Roti Abduls company, there is related on surplus
of their revenue. Based on analysis has been doing at the problem, effectively
solutions has found and to see relation of the problem with the solution. On the
solution, that has three key for solution of the problem which is Roti Abduls need
to do is research and development on designing bakery product packaging.
Besides that, Mr Abdul Wahid also needs to do the improvement on company
marketing management. With the improvement on marketing part, roti Abduls
can increase the revenue sales in the next following month. Mr Abdul Wahid as
an owner and managing director at roti Abduls company necessary to recharge
back on company marketing plan, especially on promotion part.
4.1.5 Channels
For this revenue streams analysis, roti Abduls Company has need to do business
process reengineering on their product packaging. New design on plastic
packaging will be created to make roti Abduls bakery product being well-known
and interesting. To designing new bakery plastic packaging is not need for roti
Abduls Company to spend much, because they just ask to supplier of plastic
packaging to change the design. However, the design at bakery plastic
packaging must be create by expert. This is as long term investment that roti
Abduls Company need to make it. From new design on plastic packaging, roti
Abduls Company can predict some improvement on their business.
On the cost structure, roti Abduls Company management had make several
calculation regarding on costing that company need to spend. To ensure the
company going growth, management of company should take additional value
on their product packaging. On the product packaging cost, roti Abduls Company
have been supplier that produce to them a bakery plastic packaging. Total for
monthly expanditure on bakery plastic packaging is around RM16,800.00.
However, to make the design on plastic packaging get interested roti Abduls
management need to come out with a new design and the new design on bakery
plastic packaging need to send to the supplier of plastic packaging. The cost that
need to be covered by company that produce plastic packaging is still same, the
company that supply bakery plastic packaging only need to put a new design on
the plastic for roti Abduls Company. The other cost is related with promotion, roti
Abduls Company need to pay to the creator of web site is around RM1500.00,
the creator of web site will design roti Abduls Company web site with a good
information. With the web site had been create, it will help roti Abduls bakery
product being well-known by consumer. Besides that, other cost will covers on
promotion part which is total around RM1000.00.
The unfair advantage currently for roti Abduls Company is based on reputation,
development of product, and no adwords. Roti Abduls reputation is not big such
others competitor in produce bakery product, roti Abduls brand only penetrate in
market on several way such as supply bakery to some of government
department and sell bakery product to local retailer. This make roti Abduls didnt
get a big reputation on market. Roti Abdul Company management also didnt
focused on product development, management of company only focus on
produce bakery product such what demand has request and this make roti
Abduls Company never to develop a new product. And currently in roti Abduls
Company they never have adwords related with company name and their bakery
product. This is unfair advantage, because others competitor has doing well on
adwords their bakery product in market. Meanwhile, roti Abduls never use this
channel to promote their bakery product.
