1. What is the topic of your lesson?

The topic of this lesson is bullying. Specifically, we will be discussing the
different types of bullying that exist and focusing on bullying in schools.

2. Why are you teaching this lesson? What is your rationale for teaching it?
We are teaching this lesson because we think it is something that would benefit
our students right now. We have recently noticed that our class seems to have
some issues with bullying. Our goal with this lesson is to help our students
realize what is and is not considered bullying, and the detrimental effects it can
have on their classmates.

3. What is your Teaching Behavior Focus? Why did you choose this?
My teaching behavior focus is wait time. I chose this focus because in past
lessons I have struggles with wait time. It is hard for me to find the balance
between giving the right amount of wait time so that students have time to think
through the question and giving too much, which results in the students being off
task.

4. Why did you design your instruction in this lesson the way that you did? Why did
you choose this way of teaching the lesson (e.g., Was the idea from a methods
course? From your mentor teacher? Another source?)

The way we are teaching this lesson comes partially from our methods classes
and partially from our mentor teacher. We will be asking questions during the
read aloud to make sure students are following similar to the way our mentor
teacher does. We got the idea for our true/false statistic game from our methods
classes. The idea for the physical model of bullying we got from our own past
experiences in school.

5. As you are thinking through this lesson, what do you believe will be the most
challenging part of this lesson for you when you teach it? Why?
I think the most challenging part of the lesson is going to be explaining to
students what is considered bullying and what isnt. I think this is a hard concept
to grasp at their age and there is a very fine line between the two. A lot of times,
it is very circumstantial as to whether something is considered bullying, and that
can be hard to understand even as an adult.

6. How will you know if your learning outcomes for the students are met
successfully?
We will know that our learning outcomes were met if students are able to give
examples of bullying (as well as tell what type of bullying their examples fall into)
and give possible solutions to reduce bullying in their school.

7. How will your classroom management support the learning outcomes?

Our classroom management will support the learning outcomes by making sure
we get through all the outcomes.

8. List 1-3 areas which you would like for your observer to pay particular attention.
Why do you want your observer to focus on these areas?
I would like my observer to pay attention to my time management and classroom
management. In regards to time management, I think I need to work on sticking
to the time I have planned for a lesson; I usually go over. In terms of classroom
management, I have had problems with calling out in the past and I am trying to
work on effect ways to prevent that, so any feedback is helpful!

9. Is there anything else you would like your observer to know before the
observation?
