CLINICAL FINDINGS AND AVERAGE OF PLATELET COUNT IN

DENGUE HAEMORRHAGIC FEVER (DHF) AT Dr. PIRNGADI


GENERAL HOSPITAL MEDAN 2015

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease


which still become the public health problems in Indonesia, with increasing
of the incidence of dengue. Based on the survey at Dr. Pirngadi General
Hospital Medan there were 281 DHF patients hospitalized on 2015.
Clinical findings of DHF are various by degrees. Thrombocytopenia is one
of the laboratory criterias for diagnosis of DHF. But not all patient with
thrombocytopenia are bleeding.
Purpose: To know the clinical findings and platelet count in Dengue
Haemorrhagic Fever in Dr. Pirngadi General Hospital Medan on 2015.
Methods: This research was a descriptive study. Samples were taken from
all medical records of DHF patients aged 15-44 years old was treated at Dr.
Pirngadi Hospital General Medan 2015. Clinical findings and platelet
count were noted from examination based on the degree of DHF.
Results: There were 50.98% of DHF degrees II, 39.21% of DHF patients
degree I, 9.15% of DHF patients degrees III, and 0.65% DHF patiens
degrees IV. Fever, headache and gastrointestinal symptomps, were found in
DHF degree I. Fever and spontaneous bleeding (petechie), were found in
DHF degrees II. Fever and decrease consciousness, were found in DHF
degrees III. The highest of platelet count was found in DHF degree I and the
lowest was found in DHF degrees IV.
Conclusion: Clinical findings in DHF are same with degree of DHF. There
were decreasing of platelet count in line with degrees of DHF
