Chem Viscocrete

Ultra High Range Superplasticizer for Self Compacting Concrete

Product Chem Viscocrete is a third generation high performance superplasticizer

Description for concrete which can also produce self compacting concrete.
This product is suitable for tropical and hot climatic conditions.

Uses Chem Viscocrete is especially suitable for producing the following types of
concrete:
- the production of site mixed, ready-mix and pre-cast concrete
- in summer, or hot weather, for the production of concrete with extended
transportation or placing times
- concrete requiring retained workability for extended periods
- concrete with extremely high water-reducing capacity
- self-compacting concrete especially for where highly congested reinforcing
steel is encountered or for slim elements requiring a high standard of surface
finish.
- high performance / high strength concrete
Concrete mixed with Chem Viscocrete is extremely flowable whilst
retaining optimal cohesion and exhibiting high self-compacting properties.

High water reduction and excellent flowability have a positive influence on the
above mentioned applications.

Advantages Chem Viscocrete combines different modes of action. By adsorption on

the surface of the fines, which keeps them apart while hydration is in progress,
the following concrete properties are achieved:

of self compacting concrete.

- High impermeability and strengths due to extremely high water reduction
- Improved shrinkage and creep characteristics
- Excellent flowability resulting in minimal placing and compacting efforts
- Slower rate of carbonation of the concrete
- Good cost / performance ratio

Chem Viscocrete does not contain chloride or other steel corrosion

promoting ingredients. It may therefore be used without any restrictions for
reinforced and pre-stressed concrete construction.

Test Standards Chem Viscocrete complies with the requirements for concrete admixtures
Type HBV-VZ. Standard pr EN 934-2.

Application Details
Dosage Recommended dosage for fluid concrete and SCC: 1.0 - 2.5 % by weight of
cement. It is advisable to carry out trial mixes to establish the correct dosage.

Dispensing Chem Viscocrete is added to the gauging water or simultaneously as it is

poured into the concrete mixer. For optimum utilization of the high water
reduction property we recommend thorough mixing at a minimal wet mixing
time of 60 seconds.

Concrete Placing With the use of Chem Viscocrete , concrete of the highest quality can be
produced. The standard rules of good concreting practice (production as well
as placing) must also be observed when using Chem Viscocrete concrete.
Fresh concrete must be cured properly.

Curing Fresh concrete must be cured properly, especially at high temperatures in

order to prevent plastic and drying shrinkage. Use Chemcure products as a
curing agent or apply wet hessian.

Chem Viscocrete may be combined with the following ICPL products:

- Chemrite FerroGard-901
- SilicaFume
- Chemrite Retarder
It is also compatible with sulphate resistant cement. Pre-trials are
recommended if combinations with the above products are being made.
Please consult our Technical Services Department.

Cleaning Clean all equipment and tools with water immediately after use.

Remarks When accidental overdosing occurs (within reason), apart from retardation of
the initial set and increased bleeding, no detrimental effect will take place.
Chem Viscocrete is also used to produce flowing and self compacting
concrete (S.C.C.). For these, special mix designs are required.
Frozen Chem Viscocrete may be used after it has been slowly thawed at
room temperature and intensively mixed.
