The CMS Announcement requires your state to address the following components in your program narrative:

STATE AND NATIONAL CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS

 “Participating States must ensure that the background checks include checks of State and criminal history records for
all relevant States.”

HOW WE CAN HELP

Our Criminal Search is the ultimate pre-screening tool. We use “Fuzzy Logic” to automatically access billions of individual
name and address records to find all jurisdictions where the individual is currently residing or may have resided in the past.
We then look for the most complete coverage records and determine the searches to perform and return them in a single
integrated report. Each Criminal Search report contains felony and misdemeanor records, sex-offender records, inmate
records, and arrest information.

FBI FINGERPRINT CHECK

 “The participating State must require fingerprint checks as part of the criminal background check for all direct patient
access employees.”

HOW WE CAN HELP

We will integrate our database criminal record search with your state authorized access privileges for the FBI fingerprint
search to produce a single criminal report.

RAP BACK

 “States/Territories must describe and test methods to reduce duplicative fingerprinting including providing for the
development of a “rap back” capability.”

We are designing and testing Rap Back with our Systems so that when integrated with IAFIS, the two Criminal Searches will
offer the most current, up-to-date and robust criminal database available in the long term care industry in your state.

LICENSING AND DISCIPLINARY BOARDS, STATE MEDICAID FRAUD CONTROL UNITS AND ABUSE
REGISTRIES

 “Participating States must ensure that the background checks include checks of…any proceedings that may contain
disqualifying information (such as licensing and disciplinary boards and State Medicaid Fraud Control Units).“
 “The participating State must require providers to search the abuse registries of all known States in which the
employee lived.”

HOW WE CAN HELP

The most robust health care sanctions search option, FACIS, is owned and managed by Verisys Corporation. The FACIS search
is the most comprehensive search method available for disciplinary actions taken by federal agencies as well as those taken
by licensing and certification agencies in all 50 states. Our systems also perform a check of the NPDB and HIPDB databases
sponsored by DHHS. We have instant access to verification data for those positions requiring a license to practice and we are
developing a national database of state abuse registries.

FITNESS DETERMINATION

 “Describe the process that will be used to make the determination as to whether a job applicant is qualified or
disqualified according to the criteria identified by the State.”
