Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?

In this field experience, I designed and implemented a technology workshop. Using the Adopter
Survey and LoTi surveys created with my PLC group, I was able to hone in on skills they needed.
I also met with the administration to seek advice on what they felt was needed with PD at North
Gwinnett High School. I learned that technology facilitation is satisfying as well as exhilarating. I
used the skills learned in this class to help teachers become more fluent with Google drive. This
experience showed teachers that technology is not as threatening as they first thought. I learned
that one has to be extremely knowledgeable about the subject. I stayed calm and was ready to
answer questions. However, I did not lead them to believe that I knew everything. If I didnt
know an answer to a question, I told them that I would research later and get back to them.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
Knowledge - In this experience, it was extremely important for me to know the audience. This
took time on my part to evaluate the surveys, ask more questions individually, and plan an
effective workshop.
Skills - Working with my mentor helped me understand what to present and what not to present. I
was thinking I needed to cover much more than I needed. My coach helped me narrow down the
topics for me to present. I learned new ways to work with the Google drive and came up with
step-by-step instructions for the presentation.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?

We have worked this year to improve staff development. I was adding a technological component
to a goal that my school embraced. By working with the teachers and the administration, we
developed a more comprehensive plan for the upcoming year to meet the needs and goals of the
school. I will strive to keep the enthusiasm going and urge the faculty to use my technology
calendar to sign up for further training.
