udent I will send students quietly back to their desk by table groups. I will
provide students a minute to practice drawing and erasing on the
white board. (Or compose and decompose their little building cubes).

min Teacher/St
udent I will display my worksheet on the board and start with a practice
problem. The worksheet has Part-Part-Whole Diagrams. It may start
out easy with the Whole Number on top and one part on the bottom.
Their job will be to find out that missing part. Eventually, I will have
just a whole number on top and then they will have to figure out TWO
parts that make up that whole number.
Toward the end of the lesson, we will start making addition and
subtraction problems based on those diagrams.

10 Teacher/St They will hold up their answers at the same time after each problem.

Once finished, I will collect white boards and blocks and hand out
individual Missing Parts robot worksheets.
Students will do this independently so that I can collect it as
summative evidence.

needs as people and as more hands on/fun way to learn. Kindergarteners have shorter attention spans
learners and are more kinesthetic learners. This lesson will keep them engaged and
& attentive. Certain students will be receiving blocks as well because they need a
little extra assistance and hands-on in order to grasp the concept of composing
Differentiation and decomposing. Allowing students to physically do so will allow them to make
a connection and remember the material better.
