Nursing Diagnosis
Impaired health maintenance among community members of CT 25.05 related to lack of

chronic illness management, lack of knowledge regarding health resources, and lack of

nutritional knowledge as demonstrated by statements from the fire department and Grijalva

elementary that many members are not aware of how to properly manage their healthcare

and utilize resources.


Community Teaching Project
Location: Mission Library
Good Goal: Increase knowledge and understanding of best practice in health
hygiene for members of the Midvale Park community.

Smart Objectives:
By the end of the presentation on March 29th, 2017 50% of the audience members at Mission
library will be able to return demonstrate all the steps on how to brush their teeth
By the end of the presentation on March 29th, 2017 50% of the audience members at Mission
library will be able to state main reason to practice hygiene.
By the end of the presentation on March 29th, 2017 50% of the audience members at Mission
library will state 3 times when to wash hands.
Evaluation: At the end of the presentation the nursing students will evaluate
how many participants collected the handouts provided.

Systematic Review of the WHO Health Promoting Schools Model
Provides education to students about the cause of dental caries and how to
prevent them through good oral hygiene
in the context of oral health HPS programs have been shown to increase
knowledge, reduce the self-reported incidence of halitosis, improve oral hygiene
practices, change dietary preferences and increase healthy eating, decrease
independently documented rates of caries... (Mcnab 2015).
